Do you like bubble tea?

I don’t like the texture and the ones I’ve had were too sweet.

No, I hate having solids in my drink.

I like it but it’s pricey and too many carbs and empty calories. Even with less sugar, it’s sugar. I only get it once a month for a treat.

Each one of those little bubbles is 20 calories.

So many people with eating disorders in this thread. If you can't even have 1 treat without counting calories and worrying about sugar content you have a serious problem.

I love bubble tea. My family does too. It was always a treat to chew on those tapiocas and try the different flavors.

Bumping this thread back up. What are your favorite bubble tea spots in the DMV?

I love Gong Cha. Current favorite is Earl Zgrey Milk Tea with 3 J’s. It has tapioca pearls, grass jelly and custard. I get it at 50% sweetness level. So good!

I feel like people who say it's disgusting haven't given it a fair try. The teas are totally customizable and can be healthy. And each store kind of has their own style. Some specialize in fruity ones, some in high quality teas, some in hip flavors etc. My newfound favorite is the roasted oolong at Bobapop with 30% sugar. That thing is so addictive. The roasting gives the oolong such depth of flavor.

I’m always worried about choking on the little round balls (when using those big straws some places have).

I like it but don’t indulge often. It’s pricey, high in empty calories and way too much sugar. For some drinks, you cannot reduce the amount of sugar. You also have to get less ice. My Caucasian husband hates it.

I'm going to try this combo!

Me too
