I am not aging

OP my 52 year staff thinks I am younger than her.

I look younger than I actually am but I have shitty genetics in many other ways so that makes me tolerable to lots of people. Last time I had my hair cut, the person who did my hair said she thought I was her age. That is, until I started speaking and she realized I'm almost two decades older than her. Not because of any personal details I shared, but because I think the way average middle-aged people think. As in, when she was venting about her father, my emotional response was clearly that of someone in her 40s.

Seriously, OP, get a grip. You are 62 and young people can tell you are as soon as you speak. Spend some time on a college campus, go to a party or a bar where people who look the age you think you look hang out. I guarantee they will quickly remind you that you are a senior citizen (The AARP and Google say you are).

I’m soon to turn 72 and thanks to good genes I look much younger. I’m a very active, on the go person but I’ve started to work out with a trainer and quickly discovered I’m not in great shape. And I’m having a tough time remembering names but my husband says that’s been true for me for 20 years. You can’t stop aging but you can minimize it with exercise, a good diet and being in a good relationship. I’ve been happily married 42 years and we still have a very active sex life which lets keep me young.

I suggest you keep these things to yourself because no one ever believes me that I’m 1) naturally blonde and 2) don’t have grey hair.

Acquaintances bring up your hair or do you bring it up when others are talking about hair color, etc.? The fact that you’re ever in a situation that involves discussing whether your hair is its natural color is odd.

I have 80% gray hair and would never ask someone about their hair color!

Another natural blonde here, in my 50s with no greys yet. It is strange how people automatically assume adult blondes are from a bottle. I get asked who does my highlights. Or friends talk about getting their hair dyed and ask me where I go.

Normal for elderly people to sleep for fewer hours. The rest sounds like good genes and taking care of yourself. Keep it up! (And limit your bragging to an anonymous forum which is the perfect place for it.) All the best to you.

Don’t worry you will. Inevitable. Good luck. 😁👍

My mom wasn’t even all gray when she died at 86. No major health problems despite complaining about all sorts of things. My theory was that she barely aged because she took all her frustrations out on others and held nothing in.

I have zero medical issues and on no medicine.

Will it all kick in at once?

Do you have two small circular scars on your neck?

Or a picture in your attic?
What are these references?

The funny thing is that tons of brunette women don’t have gray hair and don’t dye their hair. The difference is that every blonde I’ve ever met dyes their hair but doesn’t consider it dyed. It’s like highlights and lowlights don’t count. Or whatever they’re calling it these days.

I'm 72 and look about 20 years younger. I've also had the receptionists at my doctor's office comment on my appearance versus my age. However, no one but your family will be happy about this for you. It tends to bring out extreme jealousy in others, because who wants to look old even if it's natural to do so? Old indicates decay, which does not look good. This is an anonymous board. You would think it would be okay to speak about this here, but no. Haters are gonna hate. I'm just waiting for people to tell me here, I'm delusional for thinking I look 20 years younger, but I actually do.

I've moisturized my skin everyday since I was a teenager, my spouse was employed with GNC, so I've always taken lots of vitamins, minerals, and supplements, I own lots of anti-aging facial devices, though I rarely use them anymore. I eat a healthy low-carb diet with lots of whole grains, vegetables and low glycemic fruits, nuts and meats, seafood and poultry. Drink lots of water. I'm diabetic, it runs in my family. I need to exercise much more than I actually do.

I've been married twice, both husbands died. I have no desire to date anymore, but in the past month I've had the following happen to me. Two male airline employees tried to hit on me. Three elderly men in an elevator fell all over themselves trying to escort me off of the elevator, and a man about 15 years my junior turned red and began to stutter when he talked to me. I've known for several years that he has a crush on me.

I'm grateful I look youthful, but at this age I don't know what I'm really supposed to do with it. Not looking for a mate or husband.

Finally, I am African-American and I have good genes. My mother also looked good for her age, though she was never into supplements, devices, healthy eating, etc. Okay haters come on.

Did writing all of this out make you feel narcissistic? is it supposed to be interesting to someone? just to you?

I am still fairly young so I don’t know how I’ll age but hopefully I’m not writing essays about it

My father used to brag like OP very frequently. He sort of thought he had life figured out better than others. At 75 he was diagnosed with Parkinsons had a terrible few years and died before 80. My mom on the other hand has had a bunch of health issues, is heavy, lots of meds and is approaching 90 while enjoying life.

Good luck OP but things change quickly.

Lol! I like to write. I'm a published author and a blogger, though not on aging.
