Why Brown/Northwestern over Penn?

CMU, MIT CS grads make same as UMBC CS grads once they become coworkers in the real world. Same CS degrees at the same company at entry level make same $.

HPSM are the clear ones over UVA in-state. Probably a few others like Caltech, Duke, Yale, Wharton, Columbia

Lol I agree. Duke over UVA in state? Not a chance.

None. And we make over 500k/yr and have a healthy 529. We wouldn’t need to take out loans for a full pay 90k/yr school but we aren’t idiots with our money either.

(I specify the loan amounts to depict one who must sacrifice to attend an elite school at full sticker price.)

Assume that the student is undecided regarding major and career.

Ok OP. Report back in the spring with the acceptances

Why Brown/Northwestern over Penn?

I'll be completely frank. Outside of Wharton, Penn's name value is basically nil. Many people confuse it with Penn State. The campus culture, I've heard from multiple sources, is toxic. Just not my thing, but no disrespect to those who choose to attend (or pay full freight for their DC).

Nobody of any importance confuses Penn and Penn State.
