Dexa scan: 47.6% fat

Small sidetrack-people who are happy with body fat % and exercise/do some weight work yet aren’t super intense weight trainers, what is your %? I feel like it would help me to have a reasonable goal-signed, also skinny fat

Are you in the DMV? Google is actually good here (no snark!) There are a bunch of Composition IDs in the area, but other outlets depending on your specific location.

Fyi, there is no universally accepted standard, but here are some common ones:

See American College of Sports Medicine: https://mymission.lamission.edu/userdata/ruyssc/docs/ACSM%20Body%20Composition.pdf

https://www.forbes.com/health/body/body-fat-percentage/
(which is based on Journal of Nutrition)
LiveStrong is more generous. https://www.livestrong.com/body-fat-calculator/

Oh sorry, there really was very little to talk about I went to a Composition ID location and it cost $125. No frills place, got scanned, got my results in less than 10 minutes. A technician walked through the results but the report was clear enough that wasn't really needed.

At 4’11 and 123 she definitely looks pudgy but not obese. I’m 5’1 and when I weighed 120 in college it looked terrible. Op should probably get down to 105-110. Which sounds low but again she is 4’11.

I'm 5'1" and at 120 I look really good, and have a 27" waist. Everybody is differernt

I already eat pretty healthy and exercise. I am not on a diet however, and am clearly indulging too much for my small frame.

Lift weights - lift heavier if you’re already lifting.

Op here. Right now I lift 8-10 lbs.

I do barre 2-3 times a week and walk a lot.

I will increase my cardio and lift heavier to supplement barre classes.

OP Im 5'3' and have 121lbs of muscle. Its not from 8-10lb weights. Genetics do help but I can SQ and DL 2x my BW and BP big plates.
You want to feel out of breath- do reps of heavy squats or deadlifts or tire flips or sled pulls/pushes. Barre

Your BMI number is not the same as body fat percentage. A fat percent of 29 for a middle aged woman is good. A BMI if 29 is not.

A BMI of 29 is fine if the fat percentage is lower than average.

Not that likely for most middle aged women.

I just looked at all my DEXA reports. None of them mention %fat.

The InBody Scan does.

Can you do your own calculation?

That's because the reason for your DEXA was to check your bone health, not your fat%. I would assume you would need to ask them for that.

27 inches at 5’1 is not that small , I have no idea what this was supposed to prove
