Are covid vaccine mandates still a thing in DC?

Anonymous
Our PK-8 required the vaccine when it came out. They did not require but encouraged boosters when they became available for kids. I just sent in the health info for next school and there was nothing about covid or covid vaccine. The school should know my kids are vaccinated because we were required to submit it in prior years but what about all the new families? I guess its no longer required but of course they won't come out and make a big deal about it. If only we could get someone to reconsider the 5 day isolation/5 day mask rule.

We are a new Beauvoir family and are really disappointed by this decision. We are very glad our child is fully vaxxed though!

Why? This is a very anti-science view.

You know what anti-science is? Anti-science is denying that in 30 years we will finally know if there is long-term harm from the Covid vaccine. You know it was the first vaccine developed in this manner, yes? Or did you miss that part, you pro-science person?

Anti-science. Cool buzzword, bruh.

You people are just sheep falling for the fear-mongering by pharma companies. In 30 years we will finally know if there is long-term harm from the Covid vaccine. You know it was the first vaccine developed in this manner, yes? Or did you miss that part?

I posted above about wondering how schools are going to continue requiring it when new families come in from really anywhere else in the world that didn't require it and younger kids who weren't eligible become so and there is less availability- like you can't even get the original vaccine series anymore. It seems like the school would spend an unbalanced amount of time dealing with all of that versus you know, teaching.

NCS and STA require the vaccine for students 12 and older.

Teachers teach. The admin or school nurse who has to deal with the paperwork DC requires will be fine process the few exceptions that may come up.

That's not up to them. Maybe they'd do it anyway, but DC Health requires it for all students in that age range, including at private and parochial schools.

Madness and the people who think it's fine to force these on kids so they can go to school. The science was clear even at the height of covid about kids and covid. My 14 year old son had myocarditis from the vax. There was no reason for him to have to go through this. An inflamation of the heart for no reason. Don't let it happen to your kid. And yes i got vaccinated and boosted and am not anti-vax. I am anti-vax for covid and covid boosters for kids and young adults. It sucks being part of the statistics that did have a side effects.

Generally, people who don't want the vaccine may be vocal, but the vast majority get it and don't see a need to discuss it any more than other vaccinations.

It was required at Anselms.

That's very unfortunate for your son, but the fact is that these reactions are rare in the general population. Every vaccine has negative side effects, though there numbers are usually statistically insignificant. Imagine if people refused to take the polio or small pox vax last century because some of the nasty side effects experienced by a small percentage of the population?

Polio and small pox vax worked and were needed. Do you really think six year old needed a vax and three boosters? 😳 if so good for you most parents don’t agree with you.
