Are covid vaccine mandates still a thing in DC?

Thankfully no!

Memo to militant anti-vaxxers: it’s 2023. Stop living in the past. Direct your irrational anger somewhere else now.

Early on, schools needed to make their own rules, but DC Health has been requiring a Covid vaccine along with DTap, MMR, all the usual ones, for a year now. That policy applies in public and private:

Definitely not an anti-vaxxer but I think the anger is justified when young kids were forced to be given a vaccine that by that time was well-documented it didn't reduce spread nor did it really provide any benefit to most children receiving. You can't force medical interventions on people, especially young children and expect people to forgive and forget like it was nothing within less than a year. Sorry, not sorry.

This is only required for 12 and up. It was never required by DC for younger kids but a number of schools (and summer camps) did require it for even preschoolers.

My body, my choice*

Generally, people who don't want the vaccine may be vocal, but the vast majority get it and don't see a need to discuss it any more than other vaccinations.

It was mandate at my child’s Catholic.

We are a new Beauvoir family and are really disappointed by this decision. We are very glad our child is fully vaxxed though!

That's the amazing thing though...you have a choice. You can still vaccinate until your heart is content and no one is going to stop you. On the flip side, when even much of the world's leading medical experts advised against vaccinating healthy children, DC required it.

The vaccine gave me near daily migraines since 2021 and I'm allergic to most foods now too. If a school required it, we'd withdraw. I could never put my child through this. Not everyone has the same medical history and family medical history. We will do what's best for us, everyone else can do their thing.

Blah blah blah. Here’s the thing: everyone IS. Vaccines are no longer required! Why the continued and incessant harping???

Our preschool required it last year, but haven’t said anything about next year. Hopefully it just quietly goes away.
