Least run down/overcrowded schools in Vienna area?

Are any of the schools being renovated or have nicer facilities? Also which ones are less overcrowded? I have 1 in Elementary and 1 in Middle School. Thank you!

A few neighborhoods are zoned to Colvin Run ES, Cooper MS, Langley HS. This pyramid is within capacity.

When AAP actually IS a sh!tshow, there's no tiptoeing around it.

yes it is, but only for a tiny few who cant get their kids into it. sour grapes...

Considering the vast masses of students who FCPS allows into AAP, you’re right - the minority now are Gen Ed kids. Talk about a weak, watered down “advanced” program.

You sound like someone who would prefer a new build community. Nothing is very run down in Vienna. It's just not new. The high school and middle school were just renovated so it's as good as it's going to get.

Madison HS just got an addition but the rest of the school was not renovated. Thoreau MS was renovated a few years ago.

They aren't going to be renovated again for some time.

Colvin Run is a fantastic school!!

Someone already said this, but Vienna ES is located in a beautiful setting. I stumbled upon it while walking on the trail during recess time once. There is a ton of play space for the kids.

It is, and it's a very nice facility - but unfortunately, it's an AAP center. Centers are the worst.

It's barely a center. Only LLIV-eligible kids from Great Falls and Colvin Run go there and there were just 30 kids from Great Falls there last year.

And it feeds into Longfellow and Mclean right? Would those be up to OP's standards?

Everything zoned for Colvin Run feeds into Cooper/Langley now, even though Madison, Marshall, and McLean are all closer to Colvin Run than Langley is. So you get a school that isn't overcrowded but it is 7-8 miles away.

^ To be clear, Colvin Run ES is near the neighborhoods it serves in Vienna. It's just 7-8 miles from Langley HS, which is a bit of a bummer but not necessarily a deal-killer IMO.

Lnagley is about 5 miles from Colvin Run and Cooper is less than 5 miles.
