If you could move anywhere in the US where would you live right now?

Ouray next to Telluride is a lot cheaper and yet gorgeous.

Marginally obscure fact that somehow stuck with me: the guy who sang the 70s hit "Convoy" under the name "C.W. McCall" was the mayor of Ouray for a period of time. Also, rumor has it that the location was an inspiration for "Galt's Gulch" in Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged." My only real experience with the town was spending an evening there after climbing a mountain. Kicked back in a public pool warmed by hot springs. Then got drunk in a little bar there. Good times!

I work from home and I am freelance so I can live anywhere. I sold and gave away literally everything I own except what can fit in 2 rolling suitcases. I arranged for a 2 week stay at a local Airbnb to get my bearings. Where would you move? Give me some suggestions.

You are living the dream! Honestly, I'm very jealous!!! Please keep us posted so we can live vicariously through you....

Chatham on Cape Cod. I'll accept the crazy busy summer to go along with the quiet, cold.

I’m in Portland ME (transplant from CA) and honestly I can’t really think of another place I’d like to live more. However if my budget allowed me to have a nice pad in a bigger city for the occasional getaway i wouldn’t be mad about it

It might be fun to travel around and stay in various places for a month or so, to find out what you like.

Love the Oregon coast.

Really, why? I’m not being snarky? I’m an East Coaster and only know Portland and Bend a wee bit..

PP you quoted -- Only been once, but we rented a house that was right on the beach for next to nothing. The ocean is wild -- furious some days and absolutely breathtaking on nice days. I know it is very foggy/marine hazy much of the time, but when the sun comes out, and you're the only one on the beach, it's amazing.

We were stunned it hasn't been built up.

Thanks for answering! Do you remember the county or town the house was in?

I would go to city to city from Airbnb to Airbnb. Sounds dreamy.

I had 3 kids in virtual school and would book a week at a time in 2021.

I would probably pick San Diego if I had to pick on place.

Already live here: Lamorinda.

If I had to leave, I'd go to some rich suburb of NY.
