The kind FCPS specializes in these days while neglecting teachers, academics, families, facilities, etc.

And if you promote people like Cohen, Keys Gamarra, and Pekarsky to state office, or re-elect Anderson, Frisch, Meren, and Sizemore-Heizer to the School Board, you’ll get even more of it. Encouraging such pablum is pretty much all they know how to do.

I'm the PP who asked for a translation. Of course, I know it is word salad. The question is: why is there a word salad? Answer: because they do not want us to know their intentions.

If you look at some of the document on SB, you will see that there are some policies listed that may be affected--several of these policies include discipline. I've no idea what they intend, but I suspect it won't reflect common sense.

interesting---equity apparently means feeding teachers, too

Chief of Schools/Regional Assistant Superintendents/Executive Principals will set
expectations and monitor data to ensure equitable access to opportunities across
school buildings. Will offer and engage in coaching, training, and support, to
ensure that school leadership teams create and maintain systems and structures
that promote safe, productive, and culturally responsive environments for every
student, family, and staff member

More specialists to come in and "train" teachers and staff. More paperwork for teachers and less planning time while the "experts" tell them what to do.

of all members of their community, investing in their learning, empathizing with a
broad array of experiences and, recognizing and appreciating all perspectives.

Teachers time is already a zero-sum game and many teachers don’t feel like they are winning. I don’t like the idea of more requirements for them which will reduce actual time teaching.

It’s amazing how much time monitors and IAs have to ‘sub’ because teachers have to deal with the current requirements.

If you have an average child that is meeting the standard, they aren’t getting much attention now, but they likely going to receive even less.

More garbage and money spent on dei trash rather than education. Good job voters, maybe a trans day

Yeah, the last thing they really want is for students to appreciate all perspectives. If kids come from conservative households and share their families’ values, their views will be unwelcome, not appreciated.

Not true in all cases. You can hold conservative views so long as you aren't white and practice a conservative non-Christian religion.

FCPS is so tone deaf on what students and teachers need to be successful. It's certainly not coaches....ugh

Sure. “We didn’t get the message over the last few years (or rather, we refused to listen) that parents are sick to death of the focus on “equity” rather than actual academic excellence for all. We will continue to waste hours putting out ridiculous verbiage that means nothing but signals to our “stakeholders” how virtuous we are. You’re welcome.”

Yep. that's what I thought it said.

Nobody's culture discards education. There are however parents of very low socioeconomic levels that cannot fathom the value of education because they literally live on different planes of existence. The kids of blue-collar, manual labor, and retail workers should not be destined for the same lives solely because their parents did not have the capacity or money to go to college.
That is what equity tries to fix with supports and programs for first-generation college-bound kids.

Kind of elitist, aren't you?

No kidding.
