This. Being smug about living in Logan circle is a specific look. Yes, I do live in VA. But im from here and mostly metro for DC stuff. I take public transportation, walk, bike to work often and prefer it. Sometimes i do need to drive though. Especially if it’s a time we have to get a sitter. Not finding parking within a few blocks does impact dining choice at times. |
Most of the streateries I’m aware of are in parking spaces. Like U Street, union market, etc… Which I’m totally cool with. Don’t give a damn about parking. It would be nice if all of you stopped driving into the city anyways. |
I’d be way into SuperBlocks though. We could benefit from shutting down more streets and having squares. |
D.C. income taxes are not paid primarily by people driving on D.C.'s roads. Nor the user fees, really. And, honestly, I bet a lot of the gas purchases people make in the area are also not in D.C. |
We’ll put you down in the “the money to pay for all this stuff probably just fell out of the sky” camp |
Really? You're going to bike home on a full stomach? Must be a real light eater... |
Actually, outdoor seating in the suburbs is going to be way more pleasant than outdoor seating in DC where you rub elbows with passing traffic or get bumped by a pedestrian hustling by. |
I mean, how would you know this? |
Looking at the DC Costco gas lines, I'm not so sure about that. |
Is this a joke? How are you eating so much that you can't ride a bike afterward??? |
Great - eat there then and leave our streeteries alone |
If you ate going places where you are at risk for not finding a parking spot within a few blocks, that means you are going places like the Wharf, Navy Yard, Dupont, 14th Street - in other words high density, high vibrancy areas where parking has been at a premium with or without streeteries. If you are going places like Chevy Chase, DC or Cleveland Park, parking is still pretty easy and streetaries are not really impacting it at all. And when you say "not finding parking" do you mean relatively free street parking or paid parking in a garage? Because in the high density areas, you are more likely to need to pay for parking anyhow. So using an Uber is likely more time and cost effective than trying to drive and park. |
I can't even believe someone typed this in an non-sarcastic manner. |
Oh please. The restaurants are all packed these days. No one will miss you, so sashay away. |
Lol when you say you’re from “here” where do you mean? Were you born in the city and then moved to the suburbs? Or did you move into the city from somewhere else, flee the city once you had white kids, and now want everything convenient for you to drive back in? |
