Al Pacino to be a father at 82

For ones who aren't first-time parents, it's not baby fever, it's just not caring since they're not going to have to do anything to raise the child. It's probably like getting their girlfriend a diamond necklace or something. No skin of their nose.

A couple who fell in love in high school. They married young and had their kids in their 20s. The dad passed when one kid was ten. Sadly, things can happen even when you plan them and do it the DCUM way.

Parental death can happen to any young child, but most people don’t want to all but guarantee their child will experience it.

I’m so grossed out by the media coverage - ‘he’s still got it!’ Barf!

The kid is 4x more likely to be on the autism spectrum thanks to the elderly sperm. Elderly sperm is also linked to schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, and childhood leukemia in offspring.

And yeah, having a father who isn’t demented and has the energy to pick you up and play with you in childhood is nice, too.

I think it’s gross to have kids after 50 - for both sexes.

This kid will have the trauma of losing their father at a young age.

Then will have to deal with his mom’s rotating rounds of old men coming and going from his life.

To the person that said it wasn’t a big deal because they’d be financially set-you are clearly clueless. Any kid would take having a good, alive dad over inheritance from parental death. The money will come in handy for all the therapy the kid’s going to need though.

Its reckless. Way to bring a child into the world who will know no father.

Well, duh. If you are going to be a single mother by choice you could get knocked up by a bartender with $0 to his name, or a mega rich actor with one foot in the grave who will make sure your kid is taken care of financially. In crass circles this is known as securing the bag.

alpha?
How about pathetic (and selfish).

It does come down to "the selfish gene". Why wouldn't he leave a child behind after all.

Sugar daddy. Kid with famous dad to ease life’s challenges.

I don't know ANYONE who lost a parent in elementary school who doesn't have lasting trauma from it. It's not easy on kids.

Maybe the child will get lucky and Pacino will kick the bucket a year after he’s born.

My cousin's father died when she was six weeks old. She’s mid 50s now and she is still haunted by that loss. He was pushing 50 when he fathered her, so it wasn’t the wisest thing to begin with and while she was in the womb he was diagnosed with a rare and untreatable (in the 60s, anyway) form of blood cancer.

The child will be fine. Everyone should just be happy for them.

The child is wanted, and there will be ample resources to provide for its upbringing
