Were you 1 year old at the time?

Nope. Full grown adult. I’m not walking across the sand, rinsing off, toweling off, and dragging myself up to the condo to go pee when the ocean is right there.

There’s sand and an ocean at your pool?

I’m talking about the ocean.

You said you pee in the pool also.

I have, yes. Not regualrly.

Even once peeing in a pool is disgraceful.

You don't get out much, do you?

Well they only tinkle and don't pee so it's much better.

You haven’t lived until you’ve peed in a pool! It’s so fun!

Huh. I thought everyone peed in the ocean. I certainly do. I don’t pee in pools.

I read somewhere that elite swimmers pee in the pool when they're training and that's soured me on elite swimming, just as watching bicycle racers pee while racing soured me on elite bicycle racing.

I don't really worry about pools, but hotel hot tubs gross me out. I think floating hair and bandaids are worse.

Truth. When you ask your coach if you can go to the bathroom, and they tell you only if you can make it back in time to still make the interval which is in 20 seconds, there isn't much of a choice.

If the interval was longer I would run to the bathroom, pee as fast as I could, and run back. Even now as an adult people comment on how quickly I'm in and out of the bathroom (including hand washing, of course). I tell them I had years of being conditioned to pee extremely quickly!

How did this go from a discussion about kids in the pool to an argument about if adults should do it?

Poop on the pool: evacuate and drain the whole pool.

Pee in the pool: The smell of chlorine gets a little stronger.

Swim in the ocean like an Instagram model: fish poop immersion.

Be glad you are so privileged that a little urine in the pool is your most pressing concern in life.

Why do people thinka few people peeing in the pool is worse than everyone spitting in the pool?

Do you lick strangers mouths normally?

Watch and see how many adults leave the pool to go pee. Few will. I'm just being honest.

You nasty

Not sure how I'm the nasty one. Seriously, watch adults at the pool. We all know being around water makes you want to pee. But they won't get out of the pool for over an hour. They are peeing in the pool.

What?! You should see a doctor if you cannot go an hour without peeing, around water or not.

I am a lap swimmer and I don’t pee in the pool now or any time in my competitive days.

My kids are 6 and 8 and I know they don’t pee in the pool because our pool has steep concrete steps up to the bathrooms and when they were 3/4/5 and couldn’t pull down a wet suit by themselves, I would curse how many times I had to walk up and down those stairs during an afternoon at the pool because they get out and announce they need to go. They can go by themselves now and I still see them get out of the pool to go, even when having fun with friends.

It definitely takes parent training.
I personally think there should be more signs education people that the bad chlorine smell gets worse when people pee. I also think showers should be mandatory. I don't want to swim in your hair gel or lotion or sweat or perfume either.

You must wear a diaper on a daily basis if this is too arduous for you.

I see no issue with peeing in an ocean. All the marine life do.

You’re an idiot

I don’t pee in the pool but I do pee in the ocean. Why not, fish do.
