Or foreign service. |
Seems like that should be a wash with as many arrivals as departures. |
It’s not one-for-one — if someone comes back to CONUS, they don’t always live in the Langley pyramid. |
Wow, I had never actually seen photos of the inside and rear area of Langley. That truly looks state-of-the-art. No wonder McLean parents are so fervent. Here we are at Robinson and comparatively the age really shows. |
"Many"? ![]() |
DP. I do believe that poster - she's saying what so many McLean parents (and students) are thinking. I guess that... "gets under your skin"? |
Where did you get that information - link? |
Facilities are better at Cooper/Langley. Demographics are similar. Both are good for academic honors and AP options. But, Longfellow/McLean may be more STEM than Cooper/Langley. Both schools have good Science Olympiad teams. Longfellow also offers Latin as an elective in 8th and McLean may offer a CS AP elective in 9th. |
Look at the Oakton remodel pics online. |
Its location near the beltway where there will be a major construction zone for years will cause problems in the afternoon. |
FCPS monthly membership reports (now reporting Langley is down 19 kids since the 2022-23 school year started). |
Pick the house you like best if the commutes are the same. The two sets of schools are both excellent. They are rivals, which is why they pick on each other so much. |
We wanted to buy a house on the McLean High side. This was when I had a toddler and elementary kids and not thinking about high school much. I just wanted my kids to not go to school with all rich kids. We ended up liking the houses better zoned for Langley. We now live very close to Cooper/Langley and it has been great. Cooper ends early before rush hour begins. I have not yet experienced Langley high school traffic yet. I’m sure it will not be pleasant. OP, just pick the house and commute you like best. Demographics similar at both schools. |
I know of three students in past years whose parents were unhappy with their grades. In order to avoid having a bad grade on your transcript, you pull the child out of school and register as a homeschooler. THEN re-enroll the child in the Fall as the next grade and report all As for the transcript. Don’t believe me? Call the homeschool office and ask them. It’s perfectly allowed. The transcript from the “homeschool” year will not show the FCPS classes. |
