Cooper MS and Langley HS or Longfellow mS and McLean HS

Even the bathrooms do not work at McLean HS. Demographics and test results are similar. Course offerings are pretty similar, Nearly all grads go to college at both HSs.

So I would choose the Langley pyramid - at least the kids have working bathrooms there.

Yeah, thanks. We still prefer McLean. It’s always been more diverse and a little less “Type A.”

And it appears there may be a new renovation queue issued within the next year or so and McLean could be fairly high on the next queue.

NP. McLean is overcrowded now. It may change if it gets renovated later on. But Langley is renovated now.

See prior observation. To each their own.

Complete BS. People have been talking about renovating McLean HS for the past ten years and nothing has changed.

Major wishful thinking on the PP's part. As for "more diverse" - that line has been trotted out so often it's actually quite funny.

That being said, most students like to hangout at Langley after school because everything is so nice there, from the school to the sports facilities. Most Kids at McLean HS don't like to hangout at school because the school is an absolute dump. Why hang out at the school when you can hang out at Santini, Starbucks, Chopx, etc...

I wish that were true. The Langley administration doesn’t trust the kids and makes the kids feel unwelcome if they are just hanging out at the school after hours.

I don't know what you're talking about. I run along Georgetown Pike from Dolley Madison to Cooper MS and back between 4pm and 5:30pm everyday, and the parking lot at Langley HS always has a lot of cars around that time. There are also a lot of after school activities.

The PP is a troll who is making up crap about Langley (as usual) because she thinks no one will call her on it. The insecurity of some of the McLean parents drives them to lie about Langley any chance they get. OP is probably a troll, trying to stir things up, yet again.

It’s just a fact. Langley is uniquely lacking in economic diversity among FCPS high schools and Langley residents push to keep it that way, not realizing that greater diversity is often perceived positively by others. When enrollments were growing at other schools, Langley’s enrollment was declining until quite recently.

The point, which you are (deliberately?) missing, is that McLean is not *that* much more diverse than Langley and it's kind of a joke to insist otherwise.

It really seems to get under the skin of some Langley parents that their building is nicer yet many still prefer other schools that are less of a bubble.

I am a parent of several McLean HS students and I would love to see the facilities at McLean to be on par with Langley HS. The facility at McLean HS is so bad that my kids refuse to use the bathroom there and wait until they get home. I would love to send my kids from Mclean to Langley if they allow that, and don't believe the BS that they are going to fix the bathroom issue at McLean HS this summer.

Yes, actually, it's hard to see why people care about that so much for high school. There are other ways to teach kids about economic diversity. I'm fine with having a less crowded school.

Langley really is quite stunning. Kudos to the talented architects and the facilities staff: https://www.perkinseastman.com/projects/langley-high-school/

Strangely no pics from inside the beautiful library though.

Longfellow/McLean have more diversity and generally serve a more compact area, so it’s easier for kids to get together with their friends. There are also a bunch of specific extra-curricular programs where Longfellow/McLean are stronger than Cooper/Langley (for example, Math Counts and Science Olympiad at Longfellow, and the band, crew, and student publications programs at McLean).

Apart from the schools, the Longfellow/McLean neighborhoods tend to be closer to Metro, to DC, and to other amenities. The Cooper/Langley neighborhoods tend to be more spread out, with bigger houses on larger lots.

But overall you’re not going to go wrong either way.,

Kids at both, for a period. You want Longfellow and McLean.

Agreed.

Can someone tell me why Langley has lost 16 kids since the current school year began? That number seems high to me.
