I’ll be spoiler poster. This war will end.
The west will pump weapons and money into Ukraine until they do not have people to shoot them.
Russia will lose 500,000 people before this is over.

Russia is irrelevant for next 75 years and cut off from the west entirely.

Ukraine rebuilds and is darling of the west until US fights China.

Sigh. Pretty much.

All this is just a rehearsal for China-Taiwan showdown. China is trying to woo Europe with trade deals to get them to look the other way when it makes a move on Taiwan. The USA will never give up on Ukraine just to show China how far it's willing to go on Taiwan. Europe doesn't care that much about Taiwan, but Ukraine is their back garden and they have to defend it. Japan, Australia, S. Korea, and the Pacific generally is going all out on defense spending and joint exercises to catch up with Chinese fleet development. I hope Musk's starlink system will withstand the Chinese rival system that will shortly be set up to prepare for war.

Anyway. Hold on tight.

There will not be a China-Taiwan showdown in the foreseeable future. Certainly not while a democrat is president. Biden already stated publicly, in a press conference, that the US would help Taiwan defend itself. China is not going anywhere near that. Particularly when a weak Russia opens up so many other opportunities elsewhere in Eurasia.

But if Trump or DeSantis somehow win, that's different. They're both Putin sycophants. Which is why it's important for Ukraine to win in the next 18 months. A Republican president would be chaos for the world

Those two will never win barring act of God, meaning if Biden keels over and dies. Trump is despised by his own side, and DeSantis eats pudding with his fingers and has the charisma of a dead fish.

What evidence do you have for this? We'll wait while you make something up.

Who besides a MAGA(t) would leak this? A patriotic American certainly wouldn’t. I would conceal anything I had to go help an ally. Most people here would because we love our president and we love Ukraine.

Lots and lots of people are anti-war. A short time ago, most liberals were anti-war.

We still are. We are against the war of aggression brought by Russia against Ukraine

Current theory is that an idiot posted it on MaoWow to win an internet argument. It then made it's way to a Minecraft discord server and got picked up by the FSB who did a bad photoshop of the numbers and boosted it.

What is MaoWow?

This thread digs into the provenance of the leak.

Only 2 possibilities exist for Russia in the near future: complete isolation as a pariah state like North Korea, or internal collapse.

You believe this is true even with the backing of China?

I don’t understand why you call Russia a pariah state when the entire Africa, LAC and a good chunk of Asia is very happy to do business with them. Literally no one except the US, UK and Eastern Europe feels strongly about this.

That's not where the money is, doofus. Russia is isolated where it counts, ie, from the rich club.

And I agree with the other PP who said that China will profit from Russia's weakness and seek to exploit it, not actually "help" in any way.

That’s not what pariah state means.

Russia’s main allies today are North Korea, Iran, and sometimes China.

And even Iran refuses to recognize Russia’s fake “elections” and seizure of DonBass/ Kherson Oblast.

India happily buys up cheap oil for the moment, but they increasingly lean toward the west, as they know Russia will lose.

And trade with Africa? The poverty corners of Asia??

You believe those examples indicate all is rosy with Russia’s future???

I didn’t say all is rosy with their future. Just that the rest of the world doesn’t care about this war one bit.

lol. Whoop dee doo. And?

Ukrainians would never accept Russian rule. Russians will continue to be assassinated, sabotaged, and impeded at every turn. Sure, they can try to shove everyone into crematoriums, but first they'd have to clear out their own bodies first.

But I think the Russian body counts will seriously spike soon. From the photos posted here, it looks like Russia has deployed the reserve equipment it had in the Crimea depot, while Ukraine has been re-fitted with modern weaponry. But as long as the Ukrainians are methodical, they should be able to pick off the Russians at the front lines 1 by 1. Western thermals are REALLY good, and Russian troops will have difficulty dealing with Challenger tanks. The Ukrainians know they need to provide the tanks air cover, so will be able to take out a lot more of the Russian aircraft and command & control as they panic and call in for air support. That will be a nice big electronic signature for the Ukrainians to target.

Economically, how long would it take for Russia to get economic benefits from Ukraine? It's not like they are willing to sink in money to rebuild. That assumes the Russian economy will bounce back, but it's in tough shape right now. The Russians do appear to be selling Russian oil to India and China, but at discount; so it's a slow bleed.

Militarily, Russia's ground army is decimated, so I don't know how they'd keep control. Think the FSB can control Ukraine? Nah. It will spread like wildfire since the FSB will be spread way too thin than they already are. That means they'll lose control of parts of Russia more so than what's already happening, which is why Russia needs to station peacekeeping troops in Armenia. Even if they refill the military ranks, it would take at least 10 years before they become effective enough to take on a serious opponent. Poland or Finland alone would be tough for them to handle, let alone NATO itself; and Russia's southern borders are already in bad shape with the conflicts there.

In the end, invading Ukraine has done nothing to help Russia. Long term, Russia has lost, even if they believe it's a 'win' to take Ukraine.

You’re living in a fantasy. Eastern Ukraine doesn’t care who rules them. They didn’t enjoy the Ukrainian rule and they won’t mind the Russian one as long as there is peace. Crimea never cared to begin with. A good chunk of Kharkov and Odessa doesn’t care either. Western Ukraine is a different story.

As long as there is peace and people begin to make money again, a surprising proportion of Ukrainians just do not care.

Except the exact opposite is true as evidenced by all current polling in the country/region. Pre-invasion, there may have been some truth to this in the east but that sentiment is now long gone.

Between this and Kath Hicks's disastrous interview w/ Jon Stewart, the DoD need some more accountability.

Where are they moving to - BRICS? What a joke. No chance it'll be sustainable long term mostly because China isn't
transparent w/ its currency and a HUGE duplicitous manipulator.

America had a 40:1 kill ratio vs. North Vietnam. They still won.

I completely agree - your analogy is a good one.

Except in this case, Russia is the invader and Ukraine is North Vietnam.

And, the kicker is they're still getting somewhere around a 5:1 loss ratio.

I am not a liberal.

The Cold War did not end in 1989.

In fact, there has only been ONE war since 1945: the Cold War between the USA and Russia. The Vietnam war was not a war; just another proxy battle in the Cold War. There was no Korean War; only the Korean battle in the Cold War.

Time to definitively end the Cold War, and NATO must win.

Russia will be defeated.
