| He probably cannot work for the mayor again. |
| Arguably, the real news may be if there is a report on his various activities as the go-to "liaison" between the mayor and well-connected parties in the DC real estate development sector. |
While true, most people don’t care about that. |
What is he doing now? |
| The City Paper reports that there are federal investigations into him now. |
What federal agency is investigating him? DOJ? |
| Ugly man inside and out. |
https://washingtoncitypaper.com/article/619899/federal-local-law-enforcement-agencies-have-begun-investigating-john-falcicchio-for-potential-criminal-charges/ |
| The federal investigation goes well beyond the sexual harassment and seems focused on corruption in the Bowser administration (in connection with real estate deals). COuld get interesting. |
It appears that the FBI and the US Department of Justice may care about it a lot. |
City Paper reports that federal investigators are examining Falcicchio's role running the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Economic Development (DMPED). DMPED oversees the powerful DC Office of Planning (OP) and some other city agencies. The investigation apparently extend beyond just Falcicchio. "The questions have also involved the conduct of some of his deputies at the agency, which manages the city’s complex (and politically sensitive) real estate deals, according to the source." Some of the matters for which Falcicchio was responsible would include lucrative public-private partnerships (such as the proposed private residential redevelopment of the Chevy Chase library and community center site) and the 2021 amendments to DC's Comprehensive Plan and Future Land Use Map, which are potentially worth many millions of dollars to some developers and real estate interests. |
I don’t think this will go anywhere. |
Pretty sure that it has legs. The FBI and Justice Department public integrity section wouldn't open an investigation that encompasses the former DMPED and deputies if this were just a follow up to his boorish behavior in the workplace environment. According to the article, it includes DC's real estate deals. Still TBD is the extent of the tainted activity. This may pull on a thread that leads to other city agencies and elsewhere in the office of the Mayor. |
