City Paper reports that federal investigators are examining Falcicchio's role running the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Economic Development (DMPED).  DMPED oversees the powerful DC Office of Planning (OP) and some other city agencies.  The  investigation apparently extend beyond just Falcicchio.  "The questions have also involved the conduct of some of his deputies at the agency, which manages the city’s complex (and politically sensitive) real estate deals, according to the source."  Some of the matters for which Falcicchio was responsible would include lucrative public-private partnerships (such as the proposed private residential redevelopment of the Chevy Chase library and community center site) and the 2021 amendments to DC's Comprehensive Plan and Future Land Use Map, which are potentially worth many millions of dollars to some developers and real estate interests.[/quote]
