Jamie Lee Curtis annoys

Love her.

Haters gonna hate. You can suck it.

I don't think she's a great actress and I found her performance in EEAAO pretty hammy, though I think that suited the style of storytelling and the filmmakers were smart to cast her because it was mildly gimmicky (as much of their casting was) in a way that works within the context of the story.

Her whole things seems to me that she is likable and "down to earth" because she sees herself as downtrodden somehow. But this is based on being: an older woman in Hollywood, a not-stick-thin woman in Hollywood, a relatively normal-looking woman in Hollywood. But, uh, that's not relatable to me at all, nor does that qualify you as somehow beleaguered. She's Tony Curtis's daughter! She had the ultimate in for the industry and used it to get big roles in big movies early in her career. The fact that since then she has chosen to allow herself to age normally is laudable, but it doesn't somehow make her downtrodden.

I mean, most of us are also "aging naturally" and experience way less discrimination for it in our jobs, but that's because our jobs are not "Hollywood actress" and never could be because we were not born into that industry.

It's just silly. She's a wealthy, privileged woman who's never really had to work in any normal, recognizable capacity the way most people do. She's incredibly privileged and no amount of middle-aged weight gain or jowls is going to change that. I've got middle aged weight gain and jowls to, Jaime Lee. I'm not downtrodden -- I'm an UMC white lade with a college degree, I've been pretty lucky in life.

At least she doesn't sit down in front of people at a major event with a headpiece that blocks the view of more than a few others who attended the event. She doesn't run around acting privileged, thoughtless of others, and self-absorbed.

Once you realize that actors are by definition batsh!t crazy - and comedians even more so - and stop projecting your sense of /your expectations of normalcy on them, it becomes much easier to understand.

I mean, who could be crazier than Tom Cruise! and he's among the most successful!

It's their jobs to try to appear "normal" so they can appeal to a larger fan base. But remember people, it's all an ACT.

But she doesn't come across as normal so her "ACT" is failing.

I'm old enough to remember that as well. The buzz that she's a hermaphrodyte. She's got a man's body and man's face, with fake boobs.

I'm a fan of hers and really admire the shoot she did a while back with no makeup, and explaining how made up and coiffed etc one in Hollywood had to be (and how people help you with that).

It reminds me of this: my friend was a guest on Oprah some years ago, and Oprah walked out to her chair in flip flops, sat down, and then an assistant fitted her with sky-high heel shoes for the shoot. Then Oprah took them off after the shoot was done and flipped-flopped back to her dressing room.

But of course, she is such a role model that many women try to obtain that standard and then walk around in shoes that damage their feet.

I love that movie and watch it every Christmas.

Rotten tomato critics and audience members placed EEAAO at the top of the Oscar best picture candidates even though other polls placed them as an underdog.

JLC is clearly not everyone’s taste but I think she totally nailed her psychopathic tax collector turned malevolent kung fu master chasing her pray through time and space …

It was a weird and wonderful film - so glad it beat out all the sequels and less creative offerings … though some of the sequels as good as, or better than, the originals!

She is aging beautifullly and has an enviable career as a 60+ yo in Hollywood. She did many of her own stunts in Halloween, which is laudable …but she is and always will be a Nepo baby who probably didn’t deserve that Oscar. I don’t blame her however.

There are few topics that manage to make DCUM posters look more like little people than when they start opining on pop culture icons.

Sorry, OP, you should have thought twice before your silly post. Now you're just going to get ratio'd, and appropriately so.

Yeah that’s not the definition of nepotism.

I think it’s uncomfortable for other women to witness another women cheering on, routing for and encouraging other women. She is using her torch to light others instead of keeping it for herself which is few and far in between these days.

Like many, I thought her belly in EEAAO was a prosthetic, but nope. She was proudly letting it all hang out. I love that. She is 63 and said she has been sucking in her belly since she was 11 years old and finally had enough. I'm 45 and hope I get to that point some day.

I assume it’s this.

I agree. I am much younger but have always liked her. I could also be described similarly though so...
