I think she looks great!

There was a post on FB from Dematha HS about her relationship with a local man who was paralyzed as a teen that might change your mind. Pasted here since it was posted publicly but and you can find it on their page with photos. She sounds kind of awesome honestly. https://www.facebook.com/demathahighschool

f you watched last night's Academy Awards Show, you would have seen Jamie Lee Curtis accepting the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in the film, "Everything All At Once."
DeMatha connection? Yes, it seems.

The Tim Strachan '94 story is fairly well known, as the once heralded quarterback was confined to a wheelchair after a tragic diving accident in the ocean while on vacation in the summer of 1993.

That fall, The Washington Post sports section included a rather lengthy story about Tim, who, by that time, was at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, DC. The day the article came out, Tim's brother Beau was working in DC as a "Grip" on a movie called "True Lies" with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis.
"My brother was sitting down on the set eating lunch when Jamie Lee came walking right up to him," Tim said. "She said, 'Is that your brother? I want to go see him'." Sure enough, with no fanfare, the actress showed up at the hospital basically unannounced. It was the beginning of a longtime friendship.
Tim and Jamie Lee established a connection and as Tim says, "She kept showing up." (Tim was also visited by Schwarzenegger as well, but that's a different story for a different day).

"One day back then a friend of mine came by the hospital room to see me and was most surprised to see Jamie Lee there," Tim said. "Jamie Lee decided that I needed a VCR in my room and had brought it in and was mounting it herself. She was just such a normal person."

Tim said the two exchanged emails and the actress also gave him her home phone number. Jamie Lee also visited Tim when he was still living at his parents house.
"We stayed in contact but we did lose touch for a while," Tim said. "I did let her know I was getting married and she sent a wedding gift and later on mailed us copies of the books for children she had written, all individually autographed with a set for each one of my kids."

Despite the connection, Tim felt a little timid when his wife suggested they go to book signing the actress was appearing at in Bethesda in the summer of 2018. "I hadn't seen Jamie Lee for a while and I felt a little weird. But we walked in and she saw me and she lost it. She screamed and gave me a big hug."
Soon after the book signing began but the actress wanted to make sure she had a few moments with the Strachan family. "The book signing had basically just started but we all went behind a curtain and visited with her for a bit."

Tim now texts with the actress so it is no surprise he sent her this message this morning -- "I have never had the chance to congratulate an Oscar winner directly, so here it is. Well deserved!"

As of late this morning, there had been no reply but we know in time there will be. Tim says she always replies. As we can only imagine, the actress is probably a little busy.

I watched 20 mins of the Today Show this morning and unfortunately JLC was cheesing on half of it LOL - I am living my best life with a flexible morning thanks much!

I'm not downplaying her talent of even her boobs, as some PPs rallied around. She's just a grating person.

I’m sure she cares deeply what some random internet nobody says she “needs” to do.

She's super excited about her win. I'm sorry you can't be happy for her.

I don’t mind her and like that she is aging sort of naturally. I did think when she won, she should have either hugged her costar who was nominated with her or mentioned her in the speech. You could see her come out to try to get closer to JLC. She was probably just excited but she did manage to thank and include all of her fans in her win.

Yes, I find her very annoying.

I don't think she's a great actress and I found her performance in EEAAO pretty hammy, though I think that suited the style of storytelling and the filmmakers were smart to cast her because it was mildly gimmicky (as much of their casting was) in a way that works within the context of the story.

Her whole things seems to me that she is likable and "down to earth" because she sees herself as downtrodden somehow. But this is based on being: an older woman in Hollywood, a not-stick-thin woman in Hollywood, a relatively normal-looking woman in Hollywood. But, uh, that's not relatable to me at all, nor does that qualify you as somehow beleaguered. She's Tony Curtis's daughter! She had the ultimate in for the industry and used it to get big roles in big movies early in her career. The fact that since then she has chosen to allow herself to age normally is laudable, but it doesn't somehow make her downtrodden.

I mean, most of us are also "aging naturally" and experience way less discrimination for it in our jobs, but that's because our jobs are not "Hollywood actress" and never could be because we were not born into that industry.

It's just silly. She's a wealthy, privileged woman who's never really had to work in any normal, recognizable capacity the way most people do. She's incredibly privileged and no amount of middle-aged weight gain or jowls is going to change that. I've got middle aged weight gain and jowls to, Jaime Lee. I'm not downtrodden -- I'm an UMC white lade with a college degree, I've been pretty lucky in life.

She’s in recovery and has been for a long time.
