Pretty soon you won’t need to steal from CVS, you can just steal from the street vendors. Then the real chaos will ensue. |
Matt Frumin worked in the private sector. Almost all his experience is private sector experience other than some time on an ANC. |
Unregulated street vending is a great way for organized crime to make money, either by selling stolen goods, demanding protection money, or worse. |
| I do wonder sometimes if these people are actually secret Libertarians. if Nadeau and co. actually are Liberals or Progressives, I do wonder if they ever take any time ever to calibrate their ideology. Because it just doesn’t make any sense. |
| Amazingly the bill does away with food safety training and standards and if you violate the law, according to the bill, you cannot be ticketed or held accountable. |
Why shouldn’t every restaurant just call themselves a street vendor? |
| That would be a brilliant idea. The bill itself is unfunded and currently projected to cost $2.4M over four years. It's hard to believe that Nadeau does away with rules and regulations, sanitation requirements, and drastically cuts fees for unregulated businesses and then if you break the law you cannot be held accountable. We're obviously all idiots. If I had a restaurant or a brick and mortar store I'd leave DC. |
Does the legislation even exempt street vendors from minimum wage requirements? |
Why is it so expensive to NOT enforce regulations? |
|
The bill budgets for a couple of bureaucrats to monitor the progress.
Hey, I’ve got an idea. Why not repurpose the violence interrupters money as that has obviously failed. |
And that's all they'll be able to do - the current vending regulations require MPD to deal with unlicensed vendors. MPD refuses. Now, those unlicensed vendors don't have to worry about anything other than vending within the "vending zone." DOH and DLCP won't be able to do a thing if MPD won't help them ID people. Hope everyone like food-borne illnesses! It's amazing that no one on Council stopped to think about what this is. Regulation without any real enforcement mechanisms = total deregulation. Cue organized crime's entrance... |
Wow, this is some horrific and incredibly racist and classist 5hlt. I agree with you on the personal care products being so obviously stole, but most of these people are immigrants try to survive. Try not to be such a cold and heartless POS. If you don't like it, move to Bethesda. |
Every time I see the word “classist” it makes me laugh. It’s the point that I know that I don’t need to take your opinions seriously. |
|
Or “colonialist”.
No one is moving to Bethesda. We are here to stay. But guess who’s not living in the “vending” zone? Yes. |
|
My point is that Nodo supporters should get to enjoy the fresh hell of their own making.
In my opinion if you agree with Nodo and Chucky you should be forced to live in their Wards so you could either have a bit of a an awakening to your independent brain or enjoy the fruits of your labor which are probably stolen and vended to you by the independent vendors without any health and safety regulations (provided they are not mowed down by the ATVs run wild first). Enjoy! |
