That would obviously be the best first serving but typically most people dig down deep and get a bunch of everything.

You’re supposed to toss the salad prior to serving - at least that’s how my in laws in TX do it.

Do they put it in a separate bowl to toss or do they not fill up the display bowl as much as PP's picture?

As I recall, they don’t fill the display bowl all the way up to the top - they leave some space and then toss the salad carefully.
