Doctor will not correct mistakes in my chart

I say good on you Op. you paid handsomely for that appt (via your insurance hopefully) and you have a right to correct any details you want. The doctor blew you off, which was rude.

What was the diagnosis from the other doctor? There’s a difference between, for instance, the record saying you were diagnosed with diabetes when you were never even tested for diabetes, and saying a doctor previous diagnosed you as obese because you weighed at just over the threshold when you believe that if you’d been allowed to weigh yourself naked you would have come in just under the threshold.

No, nothing like that. I don't need to name the diagnosis. It wasn't something that is arguable. It was an actual medical condition that I never had.. nothing to do with weight.

This reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine wants to see/change her chart, and the doctors just keep adding more bad notes about her attitude.

Even if some might think OP is being petty about wanting to change some minor things, I think the doctor should change it and shouldn’t have just brushed OP off. I support OP and hope she’s a pain about it so the doctor will think twice about doing that in the future.

It never makes sense to go online and read their crap on your chart anyway all of it is documented to protect them out themselves in a good light and crap on the patient.

I'm just now realizing that. She wrote stuff like "Educated the patient on a healthy diet and lifestyle." (I told her I'm following a plant based diet and talked about that for a minute or 2. She didn't educate me on that).

She's a newer doctor and I've never had a problem with my former PCP's notes. Her response makes me feel like I'm having my hand slapped (Don't agree with the notes then you won't get to see them).

I can make a formal request through the health care system for the notes to be changed, but she can still deny it. I just don't understand why she can't fix this.

If that is an error you are complaining about, I would side with the doctor. Ridiculous.

OP. This isn't ridiculous because I'm someone who has a heart condition. It's important that I take care of my diet and exercise. I never stated this and to write that in the notes will give other providers (and insurance) the wrong impression. I'm very health conscious.

No one gives a shit that you had an unhealthy eating period in grad school. Who didn't? You are making mountains out of molehills.

If she has a heart condition, insurers might. I would mark up the notes with corrections and make a record by sending them back to the facility asking that the record be corrected. Keep a copy for your own records. And then find a new doctor.

Did you read that the doctor refused her corrections?

I emailed the doctor through the portal asking her to correct thees things and that's when she refused. I can still go through a formal process but that's all I can do. And even then she can still deny the request.

OP did the doctor say why she refused like just too busy or disagrees with your notes?
