| Are there admitted students days in Feb or early Mar? Are kids who get the likely postcard eligible to attend? |
Looking at their website, it doesn't look like it. Admitted student days are in April. |
The admitted student events in Feb and early March are only for those ED accepted. It's not on the admissions website but it's on the calendar of school.events. |
| Congrats!!!! |
| Sorry if I missed this -- are these for ED or RD? |
|
Admitted student events in Feb & March are for ED I & II only. RD decision are not coming out until later in March and will have admitted student events in April.
Congratulations to all the kids admitted already in the ED rounds. Welcome to the tribe!

Postcards are for everyone unless their applications are read too late to send postcards. Admitted student days in Feb and March are for ED only. Admitted student days in April are for everyone admitted, I suppose. |
| I mean postcards are for everyone whose applications are particularly distinguished, regardless of whether they're ED or RD. Some apps are read too late for W&M to send out postcards before the decision deadline. Plenty of kids are admitted without receiving a postcard. |
I can’t find the ED admitted students events for Feb and March. If you might be able to share the link I would be grateful. Thanks! |
We (both my DC and me as the parent ) received an email from the W&M admissions office with the student events being held just for those accepted ED (a few in NOVA, one in DC, one in the Richmond area, etc. as well as two on Zoom). If your DC was accepted ED and didn't get this email, you should contact the admissions office and ask them to send it to you. |

You are the best, thank you! |
| Updating this thread, it's 2025 are they still doing this? Including for ED? |
Yes, cipher letters did go out from W&M the previous two admissions cycles (23-24 & 24-25), and there’s no reason to expect them to stop this practice. There are suspicions they time the first ones to go out just as UVA releases their EA decisions, so W&M stays fresh on in state applicants’ minds. This is usually late January/early February. I have never heard of cipher letters sent in the fall before ED decisions are released. |
| No cypher postcards for ED. They have been sending them for RD applicants for many years. |
