Trust me, when I ask a human being if they saw such-and-such movie and they respond "oh, we loved it!", it's just as cringe.

Let me guess...you didn't see each other as much after you started your own family, you thought her life was frivolous and selfish (yet also pathetic) because she didn't start one of her own (which probably wasn't her choice), and you barely spoke to her during the pandemic, and now you're judging because she found some joy and companionship with a pet. I'm not going to say that you're concerned, because you're not.
