This IS the question. I don't watch the show but am seriously out of charity with Netflix for highlighting one show after another that portrays traditional Jews in such a negative light. There is zero interest in our actual culture, just in presenting us a freaks at best and villains at worst. Fiction and nonfiction. Given the way popular culture is increasingly happy to demonize us, assimilated Jews almost leading the charge for now, until the world turns on them too, I have long said Netflix will have blood on its corporate hands.

I say, post your chicken soup recipe here as an act of defiance!

Some of these people (they usually already have money) have basically been pushing for their own reality tv show by trying to make friends with producers or even make their own reality tv show and then try to sell it to networks. I knew one of these people and she literally paid a camera crew to follow her around, made up fake drama, had it edited and made content. They’re currently on a reality tv show. It’s laughable.

I am on episode one and just feeling bad for Robert. He has spent so much time around these vapid people in such a superficial industry the he feels he needs a bunch of cosmetic surgery.

Wait, who are "these people" in your scenarios?

I did link to my substack on the Kim k thread, but I'm afraid I'll get into trouble if I do that again

Every time I see Raed I wonder why Ben is on this season. And then do a double take.

I will miss the Batsheva/Ben relationship. Batsheva is somehow more annoying post divorce. I don't think she realizes her doesn't have a future as an...Instagram hustler?

I think it’s interesting that the two married men on the show ran as fast as they could after last season. They probably took one look at their portrayal and realized they looked like fools. Maybe a family intervention? Idk, but they hustled out ASAP.

Batsheva is really hot, but there’s something….off….about her. Ben probably wanted kids and realized that his MIL would be so meddlesome. None of these adult kids have left the nest!

There are TONS of people in their 20's doing the celebrity influencer thing and thinking this is what their career is for life. They're simply too young to realize MySpace won't be here forever, Facebook won't be cool forever, etc. We know, because we've seen it come and go. Batsheva is very, VERY focused on herself this season - totally agree she was much more annoying as a single woman.

I just binged and fast forwarded through a bunch of Season 2. Amazing how the love of their lives - Silvio and Ben- are now long gone, they were all clearly full of crap.
I feel bad for Aaron- Julia is so anti Orthodox she keeps trying to drag the poor kid away from his beliefs. Maybe if they weren't all such freakshows he'd consider being part of their lives. Julia needs to let her kids launch - they are doing things for wow factors and fame.

What do you feel bad for? That his mother wants him educated? That she wants a way better life for him?

I have family in that community. They do not educate their children, abuse is everywhere, women are treated like shit, they teach hate, they teach racism and for god's sake the anti-vaxing idiots brought us POLIO and measles. They destroyed Monsey and the public schools. Many are scam artists, who live off of welfare (no better than polygamists)

Yeah Julia should want her kid out.

I'm a left of reform, progressive non religious Jewish woman and this show makes me root for the orthodox community in Monsey that she left. Really. I can't watch this without dying of cringe. All these characters are so self centered and vacuous. It's worse than the Kardashians, and that's saying something.
