Wake Forest vs Villanova? Wants a mid-size school with spirit

Wake is more prestigious than Villanova academically. No question. Wake competes is most sports at national level, sometimes ranked. But rarely contends for national championship except soccer. Villanova has better basketball consistently. Most students at both schools passionate about school with spirit.

Wake has recently won field hockey and tennis national championships willis but other than that I agree with everything you said

US News ranks selectivity and WFU & Villanova are tied at #37 (along with Tulane & the Univ. of Rochester) among National Universities.

Would love thoughts and opinions from people who have visited, applied or had kids attending.

I’m sure it’s too large but Univ Wisconsin Madison has tons of school spirit, beautiful campus, vibrant, friendly town

Indiana University also large but same, lots of spirit and great town

+1

OP i know you said mid-sized, but sounds like your kid would love one of these (or Michigan State, etc).

Neither one has much school spirit. *except mens basketball
I disagree. Wake's football team is doing well and plenty of kids go to the games. 'Nova' s bball program is usually pretty god.

I’d call two national championships and multiple final 4 and sweet 16 appearances over the last 15 years more than just ‘pretty good’. Nova’s program has been better than Duke’s, UNC’s and KU’s recently.

Doesn’t have the history of any of those schools and their coach has retired.

.
Wake’s football team is currently ranked No. 10 in country.

Are they, though?

She went to W&M, not Wake. My bad.

😂

I knew it wasn’t Wake. We had to restart college Dems while I was there.

You should also consider Tulane and UC Santa Barbara.

TCU? Lots of school spirit but I would not consider their students down to earth. It is also 60% girls which was a negative for our kid. Did get offered a nice merit/financial aid package.

Notre Fame has no Greek system. Boston a college is another thought for mid-size spirited school.
