Lolz wake has the 10th ranked football team in thr country, no bad for an undergrad student body of under 5500

and can't sell out their little stadium.

Winston hasn't historically been deeply involved with the school, so you have the students and local alums.

It is only in recent years that the team has been consistently competitive

As opposed to the 1-9 year I was forced to sit through when our only win was against Navy

Wake, its a no brainer. Better sports team, better professors. better campus, better-looking women. Maybe preppier? But who cares.

One of my best friends there was the daughter of a former Wake player and coach - she and I lived through that torturous time together. FWIW, her dad came to town and took us all out for meals occasionally - super nice guy. And she is one of the sweetest, most unpretentious people you will ever meet. She was my very first friend there (we met at band camp before my freshman year even started), she was one of the first people I called after 9/11, she came to our Tim Duncan inspired island wedding almost 10 years after she and I first met (my husband is from SA originally) and she will always be one of the best parts of my time there.

I found my group there and they became my family. Could I have done well at other places? Sure. But I got to spend 4 years on a lovely campus with people who are now my lifelong friends. It was a special time and I was lucky to be able to get my degree there.

DC visited both but took Wake off the list b/c it felt too isolated and like a country club. Fwiw, I didn't love Villanova's layout and wished it was a little more tucked away instead of cut in two by the Main Line.

That said, both schools are in that sweet spot size wise that DC is looking for.

Wake is pretty removed from the city. The Reynolds family gave them land to build on, so it was an estate before it was a university.

If you're looking to be more integrated into the city or town, then a campus like that isn't going to work.

I liked that it was our own beautiful space. I was actually there when they installed the gates and higher security, though-there was a drug deal gone bad and a neighbor of theirs was unfortunately assaulted in her dorm room and held captive. That shattered the peaceful, safe facade of our campus. This was 25+/almost 30 years ago now, so hopefully nothing like that has happened on campus again. Even knowing that had happened, I rarely felt unsafe walking around even at night. I did call the shuttle to come get me from my campus job that I worked until midnight some nights, but that was the only time I took that precaution. Most of the time, you were on a quad or in well lit areas.

What dorm was that in? I do recall gates being installed but don’t remember the assault

Wake adores is ranked 29th and Villanova is ranked 51.

Wake forest acceptance rate below 25 percent last year.

You believe ranking means there is a significant difference in the schools? Oh boy.

I cannot recall which dorm. The person it happened to outed themselves in a piece in the student newspaper before we graduated and told the story. It was someone I knew. We weren't super close, but we had worked together in a couple different settings and got along.

The biggest news when I went to wake was when one of the freshmen posed in the Girls of the ACC playboy edition

I think that was while I was there, too. That may have been later in my time, but that one isn't as memorable.

I know there were rumors of girls who were stripping in Greensboro.

Being familiar with each school, I think the 20 plus difference in rankings is quite accurate.

Hard to find a school with spirit/popular teams that isn’t very Greek.
