Any buzz at NCS or STA as to why Al and Tipper Gore are splitting?

I heard directly from several students who were classmates there that he was not trying to buy it, but he was selling it - and passing off oregano as drugs.

In any case, there is not a school around that hasn't had to deal with kids who cross the ethical boundaries.

It is the true story. Literally kids in his class "dropped a dime" and called the Washington Post on a pay phone (tells you how long ago it wad) and leaked what had happened re why he lost his class officer job. His parents pulled him in anger after that. I don't know why you would think this was an "official story"--no school likes it when confidential disciplinary info is leaked. School was also not happy to lose ties with someone who was then thought to be a future president (oh butterfly ballot). Al III was not yet in high school so St. Albans chose to act more leniently, not that it saved the relationship in the end. Some also say that Al III had merely tried to buy pot but been scammed by being sold oregano, but can't confirm that part of the story.

All right, Tipper. Whatever you say . . . .

Think what you want--it's what happened. (and I don't think it shows the Gores in a particularly good light, so not sure what your Tipper shout out is meant to prove.) Until you've talked directly to the students who called the Post (as I have) don't act like you have the inside story.

Sorry, not credible. (And, BTW, whether some boys called the Post is not the issue; you are getting sidetracked, as somehow the phone call looms large in your account.)

Yes, only liberals get divorced.

To stir the pot, divorce rates are statistically higher in red states than in blue states. Their divorce is too bad but it has nothing to do with their politics. Lets discuss morals. What about a Ginrich-Giuliani ticket vs Obama-Biden in 2012? 6 marriages to 3, though Biden's first wife died in a car crash. But then again we know which party has better family values!

Cannot tell what seems so unbelievable to you. BTW right back at ya, the phone call loomed large in original incident--Gores flipped at drug references and discipline of kid coming out in public in the media. Whether or not you find it credible, bottom line is that Gores chose to pull kid. From STA 's perspective III could have stayed. Bc you have a kid at STA in grade 4 (oh yes, C form) or whatever, does not mean you know what happened 15 years ago. I also understand an anonymous post won't convince you so I just recommend you try to attend an STA school function with booze (maybe House Tour auction/dance), and see if any 20 year school veteran will dish to you). Good luck, truth seeker!

Wow, you really have an agenda! Very amusing posts.

The reason is that poverty and divorce go hand in hand. Don't be so high and mighty.

Not to mention, divorce rates are highest in red states.

Look up the statistics--it seems as though the richest people get divorced more often because we read about the spectacular ones, but in fact the poorer you are the more likely you are to divorce.

Legendary bad examples of American Royalty. Poor STA .

The interesting thing about Gore to STA boys is his and Tipp's alledged hissy fit when their son was caught smoking pot at school. Supposedly they resented being told anything about their darling child. I don't know if he was expelled......Then Sidwell and harvard took him and through all his problems continued. I believe he was elected president of the class at Sidwell. STA was the only school to have the ba11s to tell these people the truth. Did STA students elect him as a prefect? At Sidwell he was a hero and i doubt it was only for football.

Noblesse Oblige

Al Junior was a very nice guy and liked by whole Sidwell community, including faculty, but sadly from news accounts he seems to have struggled with drug use after college for a time at least. Believe he was not expelled from STA but was disciplined, and parents went ballistic because 8 th grade classmates leaked incident to Washington Post.

Can understand anger at that but Big Al's wholesale rift with STA over this is perhaps excessive.

Al and Tipper were furious at the headmaster for disciplining their son. To find out what's going on at STA/NCS you cannot look to the Post, but to the Washingtonian. I learned about the Al tirade however from STA parents when my daughter was at NCS.

Oh--it's "the right back at ya" guy again. Why are you so hostile to people?
