The original BASIS company had mostly charter schools and a few independents. They sold the independents to a company owned by another company owned in turn by a Chinese private equity company in 2019.

That's the only channel of accountability, unlike charter schools that have to comply with their local and state school district requirements.

Is niche basing its ranking on inverse dcum? Brilliant strategy!

Flint Hill is the top school in NoVA. why wouldnt it top the charts?

Flint Hill is far below Potomac in quality. I don't know a parent at FH that wouldn't agree that Potomac is the stronger of the two. I'm not sure what happened to Niche this year. The rating have never been accurate, but this year they are totally off.

Check this website:
https://www.niche.com/k12/search/best-private-high-schools/s/virginia/

Potomac is ranked higher than Flint Hill by Niche
#1 BASIS
#2 Madeira
#3 Potomac
#4 Episcopal
#5 Woodberry
#6 Flint Hill

Just checked.
BASIS McLean is ranked very top in the whole DC area:
#2 best high school for stem (only after TJ)
#3 best private K-12
#4 best private high school
#3 best college prep private high

Not surprised for the stem and college prep categories .
But surprised it is ranked #3 for k-12 private school and #4 for best private high school. There are so many top private schools in this area.

I heard that the BIM graduates performed very well in college.
Nothing wrong focusing on academics during high school years. They are also very talented and outstanding in other ECs.

I bet they are.

"I heard" and "I bet" are the kind of logical faults BIM students learn about in the 7th grade logic course. They are a faulty way to "prove" anything.

Ask your kids if they are at BIM now. Hopefully they learn better.

By next year BIM will have worked their way into the Big 3.

Making stuff up and repeating it doesn't make it true. Just saying.

It’s good to have. But really doesn’t matter.

It’s interesting, all the parents of kids in DC or Maryland private schools get VERY defensive when anything positive is said about a Virginia private school. Do they think there are no smart kids in Virginia?

When in doubt, go back to those personal attacks on critical posters. Same old, same old.

What makes you think they are DC and MD parents? Why would they care about a school being ranked best in VA?

Scan this busy thread of area private school parents and count how often BIM is mentioned.

It won't take long.
