Any acceptances in hand already?

Beat me to it. Some SLACS for example offer better merit aid up front in EA.

I agree with pp, I don’t see any purpose of having a kid apply just to get an acceptance to somewhere they don’t.it want to attend. If they actually want to go to the rolling app school, it’s a different story.

You can get everything done on the student-side as soon as the applications open. As mentioned above - some schools require the official transcript before the application is considered "final" - others will review with self-reported grades and verify later.

if they don’t have the grades/transcript, then on what grounds would the school be accepting your kid or not?

The kids self-report their grades first, then the transcripts arrive.

But some schools don’t ask for SSAR or the grades section on common app.

My DC applied to a bunch of SLACs. Not one connected merit aid to the order in which they received applications. This goes against everything we know about why and how private schools use merit aid to get you to enroll. https://www.ccbcmd.edu/Programs-and-Courses/Schools-and-Academic-Departments/School-of-Business-Technology-and-Law/Transportation-Technology/Aviation-Technology/Flight-Training.aspx

This. I encouraged applying early to increase confidence in my anxious child. To answer a previous poster, yes it is a school they would be happy to attend. It’s not currently the #1 school on their list yet it checks off most of what they want from a school.

Took 10 days to hear from Pitt.

Why did you include a link about flight training at a community college?

If you don't get into the schools you want, these schools will still be there a few months from now when you realize you need to find somewhere to go. Getting admitted is just a matter of doing the paperwork. Why are kids afraid they won't get in anywhere when there are literally hundreds of schools that will take just about anybody?

To get money / merit aid. Pitt runs out of money to give at some point.

not PP, but DC applied 2 weeks ago and just got the acceptance notification/letter in the portal today. No email or snail mail, DC just checked out of curiosity and there was the PDF attachment waiting.

Pitt (Rolling) 10/17, School of Computing and Minnesota (EA), 10/17, Science and Engineering. Shocked with how quickly UMN provided a decision. Think it was 5 days.
