Racism from Landon students

If I were on the Metro train with those Landon idiots, it would be annoying, but I wouldn’t have to worry about getting jumped as happened to my embassy colleague on the Metro at the hands of DC public school hooligans.

I don’t even understand a single word they’re saying. Yes, a bunch of rowdy boys who are probably annoying to others, but it doesn’t seem like more than that to me. Unfortunately we now live in a society where just breathing may result in you being recorded and allowing people to draw their own ridiculous conclusions.

Just a PSA for those of you condoning this behavior: Calling someone "woke" isn't the insult you think it is. Those boys acted like imbeciles and their parents should be ashamed of them and themselves. "Boys will be boys" was said about Brett Kavanaugh too. C'mon, man.

Racist is the person who sang/ produced/ distributed/ promoted such garbage.

Don't blame teens for singing a popular song, especially because of their skin color, you racist.

+1. If a group doesn’t want the word said, then don’t say it, and for heaven’s sake don’t publicize it!

This bait-and-condemn approach is absurd.

LMAO White people mad they can’t say it without repercussions

They are not saying it. They are singing a song.

I wouldn’t send my kids to Landon —I don’t like their culture. And I don’t like groups of kids being obnoxious in public.

But singing a popular song is not racist. Talk to the artist if you have a problem.

So because they’re singing a slur, it’s fine. Sounds about white.

No, it’s not ‘fine.’ I would never say it.

But it’s modeled to them all the time by Blacks, including Black adults and celebrities. So what you are asking of kids is modify lyrics on the fly (worse, lyrics are designed to be catchy).

You want to eradicate the word? Then eradicate it rather than setting up complicated rules.

Who has condoned their rowdiness?

I heard the incident this past spring that led to a student taking his own life also involved an issue around race. The school has persisting trouble spots.

Ah, the poor guy at the last second of the first clip — just wants to get home without catching covid. Instead he’s stuck as a captive audience with a train full of entitled white boys shouting the n word.

The comments on the original IG post are 100% aghast -- except for the guy who called out the IG poster, saying how can they complain about the n word when they're homosexual....?

I don't believe you are an AA parent. I'd believe you are a White parent who had a son at Landon and thinks this is ok. They were acting like they rule the train car. They had zero disregard for the public. You can see an older man sitting with his mask on looking disturbed. As an AA parent think this behavior just sums up what's wrong and how racism perpetuates. These boys were having a good time and ignorant of their behavior. It's gross

Guess riding the Metro if White and under 21 isn’t allowed any longer. Didn’t see them robbing, assaulting, or shouting obscenities at other people or looting or carjacking, though.

As a POC with a son, the thought of him having to go to school every day and deal with kids like this and their parents who blame the songwriter makes me fearful of his mental health

I think just their noise is a sign of disrespect to the community- not even yet words they are singing.

I can just barely imagine how I'd feel if my son were part of this. I cannot imagine how I'd parent a POC son through this.

If the parents of the kids involved care about society and their sons then they'd be just as sad as the parents of POC sons having to go through this.

Ah yes the song loop hole - the n word magically becomes OK if white boys are singing it

Maybe but only if this metro ride were the only time a POC boy had to be subjected to this abhorrent behavior.
