No one wants to win you back. Do you realize how large Virginia is? And how little public transportation there is? Please explain how a pregnant 15 year old (no license, no income) can “simply” get from Appalachia, Virginia to DC? If you’re on a roll, do Tangier and Abington too. |
What is wrong with you youngkin is a liar CRT is not and never ever was taught in VA schools not once GOP in VA is destroying va only saving grace is Lucas Youngkin and the big lie go hand in hand are you nuts he will never let you vote legitimately again why is your vote more than anyone else’s oh no he’s going in 2024 no more republicans ever they are all criminal liars There was never election fraud or crt I have a Brooklyn bridge to sell you And gop straight up raising g taxes and taking away social security you are a moron As for abortion rights again you are a complete idiot |
New poster. I am collecting stories of women who are in the situation you mention above. If you have any articles you can link, names of states or cities or other details I can use to search, please post them. Thank you. I fear it is going to take the grotesquely horrible deaths of women, and a huge amount of publicity about those deaths, to get some people's attention on the cost of these abortion bans and restrictions. We are tragically going to end up with an American version of Savita Halappanavar -- the otherwise healthy 31-year-old who died unnecessarily of sepsis because she happened to miscarry in the Republic of Ireland in 2012, and doctors could not give her an abortion because her totally unviable fetus still had a heartbeat. Her death finally spurred Ireland to end its draconian abortion ban. Witness also the case right now of Andrea Prudente, the American who miscarried while on vacation in Malta and was told she could not have an abortion to remove the fetus because it had a heartbeat (though she had no amniotic fluid and the fetus could not survive). Maltese doctors knew she was at huge risk for sepsis and put her on antibiotics but would not remove the fetus. The Maltese doctors even delayed giving Prudente clearance to travel, further prolonging her ordeal and increasing her risk of infection and death. She finally was flown to Spain yesterday and had the abortion but only after this nightmare ordeal in Malta. We need to collect stories like these and spread the word that women here are going to be told in some cases that they must retain a totally unviable fetus in their bodies at grave risk to themselves. |
Agreed. 20-24 weeks would be better, but 15 weeks (over 3 months) is plenty of time. Article also says, "He <<Youngkin>> said he supports exceptions for rape, incest and cases where the life of the mother is at risk." So - what's the fear here really? Stop the hysteria please. |
The point. Your head. |
I don't want to hear a single peep out of those dumb DCUM posters - always looking for every excuse to polarize - who think "reap" should be spelled "reep." |
+1. Especially since the state Senate in Virginia is controlled by Democrats who can block any bill Youngkin or his Republican allies introduce. |
It’s not up to Youngkin it’s up to Lucas she’s crushed him at every turn thank god Youngis a criminal just like his crap spoiled kid who should’ve in jail for Trying to vote illegally but daddy called on favors Youngkin is a grade a liar he lied about election fraud he’s a liar |
15 weeks isn't "enough time" when severe issues show up on the 20.week scan. |
How do you prove the aforementioned PP? How does a woman or girl prove she’s being abused or was raped? Does she have to agree to press charges? What if she is in a DV situation? |
Oh we get it. You’re trying to shift blame away from the people responsible for Trump. |
+1 Plus 15 weeks is very early for girls/younger women who may not be aware of pregnancy symptoms or figure out what to do. It should be a decision for a girl/woman and her doctor. |
Or the recent news case about the woman who was 16 weeks pregnant in Malta. How do doctors trust that their judgment about risk to the life of the mother will be respected? Do they need to wait for a court order before operating when the woman is dying? Also, is it a life or isn’t it? Why do the circumstances of conception (rape, incest) matter if this is about protecting life? If only 8% of abortions occur after 13 weeks and most of those because of health issues, why do we need this ridiculous ban? |
Hate to break it to you, but as soon as the GQP controls the White House, House and Senate, abortion in DC will be illegal. |
And if the argument is that they can just go get it in another state (or district), what’s the point of blocking it in Virginia? |
