If Republicans take control of the state legislature next year, abortion will be banned. Youngkin already tried to slip in a budget amendment that would have stripped funding for abortions for low-income women and girls who become pregnant due to rape or incest, who get diagnoses of sever fetal abnormalities incompatible with life, or where the pregnancy threatens the health of the pregnant woman/girl. The only reason it did not pass was because Democrats hold a slim majority in the Senate.
Youngkin is the anti-choice, anti-woman, anti-health governor. If he gets a majority in both chambers, he will send them an abortion ban and it will pass. |

I don't want to hear a single peep out of those dumb, white NOVA women who voted for this man based on a single issue when they ban abortion.
You reep what you sew |
I’m so pissed at those imbeciles (not all white but vast majority were) who ate up the school closures (when they were already open) and CRT BS when voting for this man. I’m hoping this immobilizes enough young voters to halt a VA GOP take over. |

VA was never really a blue state. It was purple for a short while, kept many antiquated intolerant laws on the books, and now it's red again. I will never live in NoVa - I don't want my state taxes to go to such undeserving institutions, regardless of how "cheaper" it is to live there than in MD, which despite having a Republican Governor, is reliably blue in its laws and lifestyle. Cheap living comes at a high legislative price. |
| Democrats are against women and children. See school closures. It will take decades to win me back, sorry. BTW, any Virginia resident who wants an abortion can simply go to DC. |
What on earth makes you think any Virginia resident who wants an abortion can "simply" go to DC? This is so absurd. And guess who passed a bill saying schools had to stay open? That would be...democrats. Dems are not my favorite but they are not against women and children. That would be the party who wants to take away social supports for women and children. |

There will be freedom-rider buses again, this time for abortion access for a woman in the above-described situation. Financial sponsorship for individual access, clearly detailed, step-by-step through pro-choice websites for those who need more anonymity for whatever reason. This is already in the works, since those of us paying attention knew what was coming.
What was the use in protesting at a march or flailing about in front of a SCJ’s home when I knew what was going to happen? |
I seriously wanted to know. Did those of you who voted for Youngkin really think he wouldn't do it? I truly, genuinely, want to know. |
|
15 weeks seems reasonable, that’s gestational limit for the majority of European countries. Only 8% of US abortions occur after 13 weeks.
There will be still be ways for women to obtain abortion on demand. |
The party that closed schools and screwed working moms are the democrats. I’m pro-choice but will never again vote democrat. Sorry. |
You are not pro-choice. Stop lying. |
This is what I don’t get…. Are people seriously upset with a 15 or 20 week ban, with exceptions? To me this sounds like just the kind of compromise most people would agree with. 6 week bans- I get the objection because you may not even know you are pregnant. But is what you seriously want is for people to be free to abort, for any reason at all, at any time during pregnancy? That is actually the extreme position here, not Youngkin’s. |
You know that there is more to Virginia than NoVa, right? Women are going to die because of your ignorant politics. |
Seriously these right wingers posing as former Democrats saying how they came to see the light needs to stop. Just show your true colors already and be done with it. This shite strategy worked for school closures. Not this issue, Susan. |
