| Oh man. That poor falsely-accused kid. How completely traumatic this must have been for him and his family. I wish them the best of luck, and if there is anyway for the public to help them, I’d love to hear about it |
Completely disagree. He's one of the good ones. |
Based on what? How Mr. Taylor handled the knife incident? Or how Mr. Taylor rushed to judgement in his first two emails before sending out the update that the special needs student was the victim of bullying? Or how Mr. Taylor has addressed student behavior including bullying this school year? Or how Mr. Taylor has led Churchill in being compliant with the ADA, Section 504, and the IDEA so disabled students at Churchill have equal educational opportunities at Churchill? Please share specifically why you think he is “one of the good ones”. Based on the above, I think Mr. Taylor is doing a horrible job as Principal and he has largely ignored the issues of students with disabilities at Churchill. |
That's terrible! |
Between COVID and the knife-wielding crazies, Churchill seems to have fallen on hard times. |
Poor kid! I really hope his parents knew immediately it wasn’t true. It must have terrible. |
| I hope who ever interviewed the kid for MCPS and the police were sensitive to his disabilities. |

Churchill has had 3 principals in 5 years. Bullying is still interwoven in the culture of the school. It’s not a school where everyone feels welcome and it’s traumatizing to a child when they become the target. Bullying and harassment forms are swept under the rug.
So sorry for what this student went through. There was a presumption of guilt before the investigation was concluded. It’s one thing to be bullied by students. It’s another thing when adults pile on. |
| MCPS Central Office leadership is part of the problem. From the N word card to this. There’s no follow through with a plan to improve the school climate. Central Office approved Mr. Taylor’s emails so there also was a rush to judgement by Central Office. |
When such an event occurred at Tpms, the highly -regarded principal interviewed the accused for three hours alone in a room until the child was hysterical. And then called the parents to ask why their child was hysterical. The child was found innocent. Was innocent. Oh, I believe she did hold a "very special assembly" that was supposed to address the issue. The bullying continued for the rest of the year. |
Good luck getting that information from MCPS. We tried and got threats. |
Threats of what? From whom? |
NP Our family was retaliated by school staff at our school. |

Fwiw I heard about a similar incident at a relative's HS in NYC - they later figured it out that it was a bot. This is not my relative's school, but it sounds like the same story they related: https://patch.com/new-york/parkslope/second-brooklyn-private-school-shooting-threat-spurs-nypd-probe
Point 2: I have a MS kid in MCPS who was the subject of a totally false rumor that he had used a racial slur. The school investigated and exonerated my kid, but I had the impression from some things that were said by the school administration that it wasn't the first time kids made up allegations against one another as a means of bullying. My MS kid does not have SN but he is by his own admission not among the popular kids. After the rumor, and even after he was cleared by the school, he was scared to go back to school. |
It's sad that the W's have gone so far downhill. |
