A friend of mine had this happen to her child in a different state, different school district: the child made no threats whatsoever, but other kids accused them of it, the family was doxed and things escalated from there.

Please stop spreading the message to your kids that autistic kids "shoot up schools." I myself have heard that exact quote from more than one student in mcps. It's intrigue, toxic, and terrible.

I mean, that's what MCPS keeps pushing. That mental heath is the underlying cause of all violence in the schools, and counselors and wellness centers will make everything OK. They don't care at all that they are stigmatizing kids with mental health and neuro differences.

This is exactly apot on and I suspect prescient. I can feel a backlash coming against people with mental or developmental differences now that every incident is blamed on "mental health."
In reality, autistic people are stickers for following the rules and have been found to be much LESS likely to commit crimes.

So what? If you chose to attend prom you were clearly willing to take the chance of catching Covid, from someone knowingly infected or not.

Students with disabilities are already prime targets at Churchill for bullying which the Churchill administrators have not addressed. No one should make violent threats and hopefully the student will get the help he needs. It was a cry for help given the police investigated and confirmed the child didn’t have access to weapons.

Why is it necessary for the article to identify the kid as having "special needs?" That could mean anything from a learning disability, to autism, to a more severe intellectual disability. The kid made a threat. Whether he/she has some sort of disability is irrelevant.

Exactly.

It was a few years ago, but after a shooting threat at my kid's school was debunked, I was volunteering for a school event and had three kids explain I was working with explaln that they'd reported the suspected kid because they were autistic and "autistic kids shoot up schools." That's a direct quote.

Did the school ever address that? No. They did not.

Do I think kids are still absorbing that message? I do.

It isn't speculation when most of Churchill has seen the threats to rape and kill specific students and teachers. And you're the only one who has asserted that he has autism.

This is sick. If I was threatened in this way, I’d call the police and file charges. Y’all need to do that and take care of all the innocents suffering. Why do you abide this?
