Which meal kit does your college student use?

Hello Fresh was never ... fresh. I had too many deliveries of rotten produce to ever trust it.

05:11 here -- this is what my kid said, too. She compared the "quality" of the produce to what she could get at Walmart.

Yes. I literally received a lemon that was green and fuzzy. Needless to say, I did not trust the chicken that was in the same box. Shame because I really like and continue to use some of the recipes we had before it just too gross.

It would make sense for one or two people. Less waste, more variety.

DS attends UVA and doesn't have time to cook due to his busy schedule. We pay a local chef to bring him high quality already cooked meals every three days for breakfast, lunch and dinner. DS tells the chef what he wants to eat for the next three days and they will be made ready for him in glass containers ready for microwave. DS is specific on what he wants to put into his body with specific calories for each meal. It cost a whole lot more than college meal plan but definitely worth it.

No extra meal plan outside of the college dining hall meal plan.

When living in an apartment it is time to learn to budget and the price of food items (besides all the other stuff).

It's hard to believe there is so much nonsense packed into one short post. Wow.

None, I taught them how to go shopping and cook for themselves like parents are supposed to do so kids don’t have to rely on overpriced meal kits when they’re in college and trying to save money.

So you raised your child to have poor time management skills and not be able to cook for himself? Great job mom, I’m sure this will work great when he moves back into your basement after college because he can’t do anything for himself.

That’s what prepping freezer meals are for. Meal kits are definitely not cheaper and you have no idea what quality of food you’re receiving.

LOL... He is not going home this summer.  He is going to a Google internship in Mountain View and he will be eating at Google facilities.  No cooking there either.

A lot of bitter condescending people on this thread. If you disagree don't use one and move along.

A meal kit is cheaper than dinner out with all of the discount codes available. It allows for less waste and is highly sustainable. All operators have varying degrees of food quality, with Marley Spoon being the worst in our experience. It is a great way to supplement weekly meals while learning to cook. Some are more intensive than others. All send you recipe cards so you can replicate. Kids don’t have to suffer through Cup Noodle if they don’t want to.

Meal kits are gross and for lazy people

Nice try, troll. No chance this is true. Because if it is, you are deliberately raising the biggest douche to ever walk the earth.
