Most feminist private school in the DC area?

No shade, but re: a lot of the other response -- I have a hard time feeling that any school with a uniform can be "the most feminist."

Agree. Very excited for my daughter to be starting there in the fall. Every student we met there displayed a level of poise that we just didn't see at the other schools we visited.

I still don't understand what you are looking for in a school. A school that teaches about bell hooks and other feminists? A school where all the leadership positions are held by girls? A school that offers professional development to teachers around sexism and bias? Something else?

More than likely, you will never understand what this person is looking for as they are trying to roil the waters of the culture wars.

Op~ PP respectfully… if this conversation is so uncomfortable for you that you need to make up a story of my intention, then you are free to not post and scroll on. I have two girls who need to thrive in a patriarchal society. I want a school that is not performative in its feminism and beyond giving girls confidence — though that’s a start.

It would be nice to hear from parents why they think their school is feminist and what they see in their children that demonstrates feminists values are forming and it’s not just from teaching at home.

Hahahahaha.

NCS might be, but STA is not. Teachers in the joint upper level classes blatantly favor the STA boys, especially the STA teachers. And did you know that until very recently, STA boys could attend Homecoming at NCS but NCS girls had to be invited to theirs?

Feminist. Ha!

Grow up. The same complaints are lobbed by STA boys when taking classes at NCS that NCS teachers blatantly favor the girls, and penalize the boys. No one complains that NCS is misandrist. I don't know how many NCS parents brag about how their girls only take STA classes because they are easy As, etc... Both schools could do a lot more to cultivate a culture of mutual respect for each other's students and not the disdain for each other that I have observed.

Ding ding we have a winner! Apparently NCS has the culture of disdain for boys that OP is looking for.

OP: disdain for boys? I think by invalidating my post you’re showing your disdain for girls and women. I wonder if we were in person if you would honestly say that me asking about feminism demonstrates a disdain for boys.

A patriarchal one that is comfortable with the status quo.

GDS was a no brainer for my DD for those reasons. But keep in mind, any school filled with families that can easily afford $45k/year keeps it's radicalism in the safe, performative zone. GDS's tuition is higher than the average family income of students at Berea (where bell hooks taught).

Thank you… so performative safe zone. Does your DD see that and rise above?

NP, but it absolutely does not! Feminist son loving mom here. I want him to not be threatened by strong women like this PP seems to be. I love the men in my life and I love men who support women being their strongest selves the most!

Wow, so posts condemning the idea that children should be forced to “try the lgbt” lifestyle, in other words sex, are deleted but the original post is allowed to stay? What kind of sick world have we entered?

Only LGBTQ need to be hired. This way girls can truly appreciate alternative views.

Pretty weak troll attempt. Go elsewhere, loser.

Yeah, any use of the term "lifestyle" is an immediate tell.

Someone’s reporting all trans posts too. We’ll let the Supreme Court and NCAA handle that one.
