Exactly!

It is also why we have a crime problem in our cities. Poverty is now an excuse for crime.

Teens of “all socioeconomic classes” do not drive $100k+ cars that go 150+ mph.

But you knew that!

Who cares how much the car cost? The reality is that even a cheap car can go well over 100mph, and at that point there's no meaningful difference.

Somehow, the judge saw it fit to let the kid live under house arrest. A simple google search of his parents, Helena and Craig Galle reveal they are uber wealthy. He's an attorney with the audacious and cringey email handle of "pololawyer@aol.com" Blech. https://www.floridabar.org/directories/find-mbr/profile/?num=856568

They own homes in Florida, Florence, Italy and Maine. Check out their "modular masterpiece" in Maine: https://mainehomedesign.com/features/modular-masterpiece/#close

They obvious spoiled their son in every aspect of the word, resulting in a teen who thought the world was created for him alone. I hope they are sued into poverty...but they won't be because people like them are never really left ruined by tragedies like this, while countless others are left in their wake.

If you are financially successful and able to give your kids everything...do us all (and them) a favor and don't. Do your job and raise decent humans because the rest of us have to live in "their" world too.

And if you are solidly middle class or impoverished, raise your children right. Not sure why this is just an admonition to the wealthy. Proportionally more poor kids with guns ruining people’s lives.

Sensitive about your tacky new money and permissive parenting style, huh?

Sensitive about being poor and allowing your kids to have guns?

No one died in fast & furious as collateral damage when speeding or racing! All 9 times, none.

This is a tragedy. The article links to a GoFundMe for the victims' families in case anyone else is interested. (Just donated.)

What do they need $120,000 for?

Funeral expenses and income for the families they were supporting.

So they’re going to remit $120k to Central America?

Cars should not be able to go over 100 miles an hour.

Agree!! I did this as a stupid teen in the 90s, I loved going fast down empty highways like a complete idiot. I'm thankful nobody was hurt but so scared of my kids being reckless when they get a license. We practice occasionally and I am overkill on safety and telling them about how easily accidents can happen. My parents were more concerned about teaching me technique and being a skilled driver. I don't think they scared me about anything in terms of speeding or being reckless, they trusted me and should not have but thankfully I didn't get in any wrecks. If I had been caught once I would have been shamed to hell so while my initial reaction is pity, I feel less sorry hearing this was something he would boast about.

Are you out of your mind? It sure as hell wouldn't be my "kid with a car."

This is a horrible story of an entitled brat who has ruined multiple lives. I hope he gets serious jail time.

What a tragedy. This is why I don't agree with giving a 16, 17 or 18 year old their own car. They aren't ready for the responsibility that comes with it!

Did he get off due to "Affluenza" like the Texas teen afew years back?

The beater my kids drive is going to have a hard time getting to 70 let alone ever toughing 100.

Low-income kids wreak far more havoc on society than “rich kids.” But people love to see a rich white kid get into trouble.
