The jury is definitely still out on Dakota Johnson. Melanie Griffith was in a ton of very popular movies, and Don Johnson was huge in Miami Vice for 5 seasons. Dakota seems famous for 50 Shades of Gray only at this point.

I think this is the age/recency issue. To me, Melanie Griffith is/was more famous than Dakota, and Melanie Griffith was more famous than her mother, but my parents generation might say Tippi Hedren is/was more famous than Melanie.

Rashida Jones is no where near as famous, popular or successful as her dad Quincey. Quincey's influence spans generations. I don't even think she is as generational well-known as her mom who was known for Mod Squad and Twin Peaks.
