Would you date someone who went to a really bad university?

Anonymous
When I was young and single, I cared about schools, degrees, and careers but didn't pay attention to income. If I was ever single again, I wouldn't care about the degree or career stuff but financial picture matters a lot more. I would gladly date or marry some kind, compatible guy who never went to college as long as he was financially successful.

They say their line of work helps them weed out the gold diggers right up front. The woman who can look past their job title is a keeper, and they'll spoil her to no end.

You’re not making them sound particularly appealing.

It’s a common knowledge that trade school grads can make a killing but money can’t compensate for intellectual compatibility.

So only stupid people go to trade school? Huh. Learn something new every day.

Came here to say this. I would not date a Liberty Grad. No way.

Including Malik Willis?

OP here. I’m the one who went to the “really bad university.”

As long as you are not dumb, have a good job and earning potential, can take care of yourself financially, and support a family, it shouldn't matter. If the other person cares that much about where you went to school, they are shallow, and your relationship would probably have lots of other issues.

Which one? Or if you don't want to mention the exact one, say something in the same caliber. I agree with everyone who says that it's what you do with that degree and the person you've become that should matter.

There are loads of people from basic schools, limited number goes to top 100 schools. Unless you are aiming for Harvard/Hopkins type, it shouldn’t be an issue.

No but you don’t see academic superstars leaving merit scholarships to top schools for trade schools.

+1 And it wouldn’t be because of the level of the university, it would be because I wouldn’t want to dare an evangelical Christian.

At least it’s ranked. USWNR only ranks less than 2000 and there are more than 4000. The unaccredited and truly bad ones don’t even get on the list. It matters more what you are doing with your degree now than where you went to school.

FYI for the Northeast region, these schools include UDC; all the Connecticut States - Western, Central and Southern; SUNY Buffalo; Frostburg State, Bowie State and Coppin State in MD; University of Baltimore; Edinboro, Bloomsburg, California and Kutztown in PA. To give everyone an idea.

Which subjects would you study at a trade school?
Which subjects would you study at Harvard?

What academic level your peers at each school would have?

It’s not a matter of smart or stupid.
