It’s not a huge problem really, my kid did this until he turned 17, and he turned out just fine. He now showers every other day, which is a huge accomplishment for him. You should not force your children to be clean if they don’t want, after all it is their job to manage their own hygiene. I wouldn’t worry so much. |
| Once a month. Or if fancy company is coming over. |
This. Shocked and kind of grossed out kids don't shower every day. This is the tween and teen forum. Good god. |
|
Straight haired girl, Every other day since 3rd grade onward.
Curly hair daughter is every 3 days but is only 7 yo. |
| Tween boys, every day, unless they really didn’t do anything active that day. |
| 10 and 12. Shower daily since babies. They’ve never known otherwise or questioned it. |
|
12 year old. Every other day to every third day in the winter. Daily summer. kid has tons of friends and endless social invites so her lack of showers is not turning off the other kids.
Teenagers (14 and 15) shower daily. |

My 12 year old thinks the pool will kill off most bacteria so he is clean and does not need to shower for the next 2 days. That means he showers about twice a week. 3x if we are lucky.

10 year old DD showers right now twice a week. She still enjoys a bath and will get those most other nights she doesn't shower.
The exception is she will shower religiously after swimming. She hates how her hair gets if she doesn't wash out the chlorine. |
| 6 and 10 every night. They get the rare night off if we get home super late (but then they shower in the morning). |
| Daily in the evening and sometimes twice per day if they have sports all day or cut the lawn and this means hair washing too. I have greasy boys. |
+1000. The daily/twice daily shower people are really militant. |
| every other day. Youngest sometimes takes a bath daily bc she likes it, although she only washes her hair weekly (curly hair) |
Totally. https://www.webmd.com/beauty/shower-how-often#:~:text=Many%20doctors%20say%20a%20daily,in%20part%20on%20your%20lifestyle. How Many Showers Per Week? There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. Many doctors say a daily shower is fine for most people. (More than that could start to cause skin problems.) But for many people, two to three times a week is enough and may be even better to maintain good health. It depends in part on your lifestyle. |
| Everyday. And have since their birth. |
