How often do your kids shower?

My 10 yr old DC is refusing to shower everyday and showers only twice a week. Whenever I think DC stinks, I insist and after a lot of whining and crying, DC goes to shower. The whining has got out of hand though. Hair is also like a homeless person's when DC comes back from school. Were your kids like this at this age?

6 days a week, non-negotiable. Mine prefer to shower at night and Friday night is usually a freebie.

Everyday, else they start to stink.

My kids did every other day until they were about 8 and 10, and at that point they both started smelling bad the day after skipping a shower, so I mandated daily.

At some point, maybe around 11, I can't get my two boys out of the shower. sometimes they take two a day even when they do nothing....and trust me, they'll start caring about there hair too soon.

Every other day in winter. In the summer they’re swimming almost every day and usually shower after (blonde hair), but even if they don’t they’ve still basically cleaned their bodies (it’s our own pool so not a ton of chemicals). If they shower every day in winter their skin would be sooooo dry. They really don’t smell, my eldest is 12 and has been using natural deodorant for a couple of years but really doesn’t need it. 9yo has a bit more bo but also uses deodorant and that takes care of it.

Just make it part of the nightly routine. So tell them it's time to go upstairs 15 minutes earlier than usual and turn on the shower and tell them to get in. Every other day or so really enforce that soap is being used, but even just a rinse off daily will help at first.

Every day. They've always showered/bathed every day.

Also if the hair looks terrible after a day at school, take this child for a haircut. Trimmed up hair really does help.

My 12 year old has to shower the minute he comes home from wrestling. But, my 10 year old! It's a battle. He swims year round and fights showering. The pool is not a substitute for a shower. The battle rages on.

Somewhere between every day and every other day depending on the weather/allergies and activities.

Every night!

Sometimes he skips a weekend day but if he has a game or is going to a family event or gets a haircut he knows to shower.

Honestly, I know some kids are difficult, but I don't know how families find themselves in this situation. Brush your teeth, shower, eat food, go to bed...these are basic things that kids who are not clinically oppositional should usually do without major issue (maybe with some "get upstairs, it's time to get ready for bed" reminders, but they should do it).

Every day, sometimes twice a day depending on activities.

Every day, not negotiable. This is a hill I will die on. During Covid when nobody was leaving the house we relaxed a little and it was every other day, but outside of that every day.

My kids shower before the last meal of the day. So if they want to eat, they come to the table clean. It’s like the Queen dressing for dinner, except pj’s.
