If your kids don’t bathe every night, how often do you change their sheets?

You don’t know very many people then.

Interestingly, I do know many people and many parents - more, I would wager, than you. And everyone bathes daily. My current employers wash their kids hair every night as well.

Do you bathe daily?

You clearly have never been exposed to a diversity of people. You may know many people in your own bubble but that doesn’t make you an expert in how everyone else lives.

When did I say I was an expert? I said, “I’ve never known anyone who didn’t bathe their children daily”. I’m honestly shocked people like you exist. Now I’ll amend that statement by adding “IRL”.

And I have been “exposed” to a diversity of people!

Why are you so shocked that someone might do things differently from you? That’s very narrow-minded and judgemental.

Yes, in all honesty, I am judging you. It’s basic hygiene to me and good parenting to bathe children daily, IMO. I’m surprised you don’t.

Okay but based on what?

First, it’s far better for kids to have a set routine at night. Second, children are actual humans with glands, secretions, and skin oils that attract dirt. They also are painting and playing outside in dirt, sand, grass, snow, etc. And a child still in diapers needs a daily bath! Third, bathing daily sets up a good hygiene routine for life. Fourth, water submersion is relaxing.

And this whole dry skin thing baffles me - do none of your moisturize your children? My DD puts on her skin cream every night before bed. No issues with dry or itchiness.
Sheets are weekly. I personally shower twice a day no matter what and DH is once a day.

Drying out your skin washing w soap and then putting lotion on is not as good for your skin as letting your skins natural oils take care of the moisture.
Showering 2x a day isn’t good—for your skin or for the environment.

I bathe (actually shower) my kids, 3.5 and 1.5 every night and wash their hair. Sheets (just top sheets for crib/toddler bed mattresses are changed every week.

I bathe my kids every other night. I wash their sheets once per week. It works just fine.

Same! Kids are under 5. Daily bath would be rough on my kids’ skin and hair, especially the baby’s.

FWIW I babysat for a well-regarded pediatrician and her kids, 5 and 8 at the time, bathed every other night.

I mean, a very quick google search will show that bathing nightly is not necessary for babies and toddlers.
Anonymous
I asked my pediatrician at all the initial well visits and she said daily bathing was not necessary for babies and even toddlers. The diaper area is obviously kept very clean and I use my judgement if it’s a very hot day or there’s an unusual mess. I’ll take a trained medical professional’s advice over what some random nanny thinks I need to be doing.

This. Peds and Derms are in fairly unanimous agreement on this. Don’t care what random childless nanny thinks.

I change sheets every week. Occasionally it goes to two weeks, but also occasionally it's twice a week if someone pees the bed or whatnot.

We also bathe most days - skip if we have a late night or if they weren't really outside or around others, but every single school day we bathe.

My kids bathe daily. But sheets, maybe once per month. I do my bed weekly, but with 3 kids plus all towels and all the other laundry, their sheets are low priority
