You are not going to change that. Why do you think so many are at shelters that came from “somewhere”. You have no idea what you are getting. As far as having one around my kids my family. No think you. The statistics are frightening to say the least.

op don't you people who hate pits have anything else to do besides hijack my thread? Go save the whales or something

We don’t hate pits. It’s not their fault. We just hate you.

This isn’t OP but I agree with them. Stay off the thread if you can’t contribute in the way that’s asked. Go back to the mauling threads and fear-monger one another there.

I know. You’re just minding your business, trying to be positive about pits, then all of a sudden you get attacked. Mauled, one might say.

Yes, you are acting like an aggressive dog, good point. I suppose it’s in your DNA and you are clearly untrainable. Bad breeding, bad upbringing.

Remind me who is advocating for a breed that routinely bites off children’s faces?

op here. Wow! You hate me, a human you all claim is so important and should be protected from all dangerous pit bulls and yet you hate me? I am looking for positive stories and never have mauled or bitten anyone! You would be a pit bull then, eh? Rather ironic.

The point of the thread is to point out that not all pit bull dogs are dangerous and should be euthanized. Not that we advocate for children to be attacked. Anyone can get images of horrible attacks by pit bulls and other animals.

I think the point of this thread is that some people get really sentimental about a dangerous breed and make decisions that ultimately, on average, harm others.

No, not really. Since the vast majority of dog maulings are by pit bulls, those are the only gruesome images that are easy to find by anyone.

Ignoring that fact is ostrich behavior. We're humans, not dogs, not ostriches.

Yay! That’s more like it. Here’s another one about a 3-year-old: https://www.newsweek.com/pit-bull-mauls-3-year-old-death-eyewitness-stabs-dog-save-child-south-africa-1661168" target="_new" rel="nofollow"> https://www.newsweek.com/pit-bull-mauls-3-year-old-death-eyewitness-stabs-dog-save-child-south-africa-1661168

This made me laugh.

Our neighbor had a pit. It started getting aggressive toward their daughter so they rehomed it ...and got another pit. I guess that's a positive story?

Strangely OP you are having difficulty getting a lot of positive feedback about a rather dangerous dog. I wonder why ?

Our neighbor has a pit or staffordshire terrier who sometimes escapes and comes to visit. She likes to come inside our house and tear around, literally do laps up and down the stairs and around the house. She’s so excited and happy you can’t even pet her because she’s so wiggly. I love her and have 0 fear when she’s around. She’d knock a small child over for sure but I have no fear about her being around my tweens, and they love her too.

I was so grateful that DD's BF's pit pulled its teeth out of her face at BF's command (and physically pulling the pit away from DDs face). So only 24 stitches and barely a scar 5 years later. ER docs said she was very lucky.
