I guess I shouldn't be surprised, given how stubborn and belligerent you are, in addition to the usual libertarian tells in your comments. |
School start times really don't bother me. It's ending at 2 that's very very hard on working families. I wish they had sports or free activities you could sign your kid up for until 3:30. |
I agree. For some reason, we are still using a school schedule that was designed to address the needs of an agrarian society - start times late enough for children to help with morning farm chores and summers off to help with harvest. Shouldn't we reconfigure school schedules to better align with how society functions today? |
A lot of dual-income families are working all day, whether school ends at 2 or 3:30, so they need childcare either way. |
We are at the one MS/HS in APS that starts late and I love it! They get extra sleep in the morning, and school+bus ride occupies most of the afternoon so less time to get in trouble. |
This. Also, it hasn’t had anything to do with an “agrarian society” in 70+ years. It has to do with one thing and one thing only:transportation. If not for transportation, all schools in a district would just start and end at the same time. And there is just no meaningful difference about 7:30 vs 7:50. Both are quite early. That’s life. |
I don't think it still works that way these days, does it? At least not in Loudoun County when it comes to bathrooms and locker rooms..... |
I'm trying to picture my husband (or any mature adult really) having a temper tantrum about 20 minutes....nope! I can't picture it! |
What an asinine post. How do you know so much about your neighbor's child's sleep schedule and habits? Maybe quit being such a creepy stalker and mind your own kid. Teenagers don't need jobs during the school year! |
