Why does MCPS need a "transition" period between in person and synchronous?

I guess anyone foolish enough to put 100% faith in a new vaccine got what they deserved... just like people say about the unvaccinated. Of course you could get covid. There were two things we were being told... get vaccinated, live your life or these are good at reducing symptoms but you can still get covid. If you choose to get vaccinated and live your life without precautions, you are to blame for the surge.

Actually, the president of United States said in a press conference multiple times if you get the vaccine you won’t get Covid. You are an idiot. You’re not going to gaslight me or anyone else who did what they were supposed to do. If you want to live your life and a whole go ahead the rest of us are going to live with this virus because it’s going to be around for the rest of our lives. Enjoy living in your bunker.

Conditions changed. We had a glorious couple months at the end of the last school year when the vaxxes were truly awesome! Now they're just really good given the current conditions.

The end of school year was possible as many kids stayed virtual. If you listened to our do nothing president vs actual science then that is your fault as it was clear at best the vaccines work for symptoms.

I think it was sarcasm. Sad that you couldn’t pick up on that. The poster was also referring to Joe Biden. We can agree though he is a do-nothing president.

Do you complain about your lazy accountant, lawyer, and tech people because of where they are located while working? I'm a new teacher and have spent days trying to get ready if we go virtual. I've never done this before. Ditto for at least five of my colleagues who are also new teachers. Keep complaining and you will have even more new teachers to complain about since many teachers aren't coming back next year. I know four from my school alone who are quitting or retiring early.

No one is saying all teachers are lazy but to deny that some teachers are lazy is just ignorance. My child has a lot of great teachers this year but had a horrible one last year. This was not a covid issue but she has was always known as a lazy teacher and it got much much worse during virtual learning because there was little supervision. You can't be that myopic to think that some of your colleagues are not like this.

Wishing you good luck teacher. I'm sure you'll do great because you seem to care.

When people make blanket statements about teachers, like the OP’s assumption that decisions are made because of teachers’ laziness, it hurts ALL teachers. I know more teachers ready to quit right now than willing to stay. All this anti-teacher rhetoric takes a toll on the many dedicated, hard-working professionals who have relied on creativity and countless hours to reach students the last two years. Sure, there are lazy teachers. There are even more who are doing a stellar job in unprecedented times for teachers.

Many teachers are also struggling because of the lazy parents who'd rather complain than help.

How you do your job is independent of what parents do. Sorry. Might want to try some accountability next time.

I am doing my job as a parent. I am not a teacher or work for MCPS. Maybe if parents were held accountable the closures would not be happening.

So it’s the parents fault for getting their kids vaccinated and then ultimately getting Covid? Let’s just take a reality break here. It’s not the parents fault that the school board votes to close the schools ever.

Parents are responsible when they are making choices that put their kids and all of us at risk. The school board got slammed for closing last year. So, they remain open and now it’s a hot mess. Anyone who kept up with the vaccines knew that they were to reduce symptoms bit to stop Covid. Do your part or don’t complain.

Gosh you are really dense. We had our children vaccinated we were told by our president that if we got vaccinated we wouldn’t get Covid. The children lost 18 months of instruction last year. The children have sacrificed enough. If you’re scared to go outside of your house just stay inside. We’re done sacrificing the education of our children for grown adults.

I thought our president said Covid would be gone by Easter, 2020.

I do get mad at the people (teachers and parents alike) who want schools to shut down, but then go out to eat, go to the movies, and hang out with friends and family unmasked and in large groups.

I think the bigger issue is that this could have been anticipated given the trajectory of the virus. The preparation should have been done prior to break.

No Biden declared victory over the virus in July 2021. Then in October said that if you got vaccinated you wouldn’t get the virus. Of course and a statement on TV yesterday he said it was 2020.

Seriously. All the garbage the kids didn't learn from last year. I mean, come on.
