, This person you refer to has some issue with Tufts -- was either rejected in some capacity, or works for a rival college, or maybe is bitterly jealous of someone associated with Tufts. It is very easy to tell their postings because they're viscous and stupid at the same time. They post multiple times in every thread about Tufts. I wish there was a remedy for this situation. |
| My DS graduated with a music degree from Tufts in 2019 and he is still working odd jobs. He wasted 300K of my money on having fun at Tufts. YMMV. |
You let him major in music, from Tufts no less, not Julliard,,... so.... |
agree. |
| My DD graduated from Tufts three years ago with an economics degree and has also only been working odd jobs since then. She moved back home for the pandemic and hasn’t had a chance to branch out and land into a steady career yet. We also worry if it was the right choice for us… |
Tufts is a good school and Econ is not a bad major. What is her gpa? Anything particular about her? |
Maybe getting a music degree in an era when every musician with an internet connection can produce and stream their work on their own wasn't the best idea? |
But I know a guy that got an engineering degree from there, and he got a real good job. |
I thought it's all about following your passion and enjoying |
sure... if failure to launch is also permissible in your house, definitely 'follow your passion'. |

This thread is begging to read as if a bully is trying to hijack it - with multi anti messages intended to look as if they are from different people when they are clearly authored by one disgruntled person. To that person I think we can all say, “get over it and move on.”
Tufts is clearly the right fit for a segment of students. Its applicant pool continues to grow and is increasingly competitive year after year. Seems to be they are doing something right. |
| Tufts is fine if you can’t get in higher ranking schools but need a prestigious school to go to and have means to pay for it. If you are a good student and working hard in a good major, Tufts will get you where you want to go like any other college would including your local state school. However, student body is quite affluent so you make a better network than state school and location is close to Harvard, MIT and good professional schools so you can socialize and date in a better pool. |
Following passion isn’t the reason of failure to launch, if you are good at what you are passionate about and have a good personality, you are bound to do well. However in high demand STEM fields, it’s possible to do reasonably well even for mediocre students with dull personality. |
Tufts is not prestigious though. Most people around the country are not familiar with it, or if they are, would not consider it a particularly prestigious school. |
