We have had several positives from MCYO and they don’t clean more than normal. The venue is large so people could space out but most did not. The had the kids packed together when they were not playing. They try to a point but you have a false sense of security.

And, younger kids are not fully vaccinated and at this point it means nothing.

...vaccination means nothing?

MCYO is canceled tonight. Guess those extra cleanings did not work.

odd that it's not on their web site yet.

Kids who are getting vaccinated are still getting covid so to say because you are vaccinated, you cannot get covid is false. They should have had everyone test.

Agreed. People who are vaccinated can and do spread Covid. That’s not a secret anymore.

People who are vaccinated are

1. less likely to become infected with SARS-CoV-2
2. less likely to transmit SARS-CoV-2, if infected
3. less likely to develop symptoms (covid), if infected
4. less likely to become seriously ill from covid, if covid symptoms develop
5. less likely to die from covid, if seriously ill from covid

But dies that mean we shouldn’t have common/sense restrictions to keep community spread down?

Many people find these restrictions inconvenient and are unwilling to be put out for something they believe could never happen to them.

It was sent via email to our group. Keep up. They are saying its a cold, not covid, but either way, apparently masking, vaccines/testing is not enough nor is their "cleaning."

Its interesting they didn't have anyone fill in vs. just cancel.

Other than the Band and Orchestra teacher, I have never seen another teacher at our school concerts.

My kid’s Band teacher desperately wants to go forward with this concert. She LOVES her job and will be devastated if the concert is cancelled.

Anyone who is concerned about the school community and our Music teachers wants to see these concerts held safely. Require masks and let the kids do their thing.

Teachers are vaccinated. MCPS required it.

The PP is just making sh$t up to promote fear.

They are. However, that's where we are seeing the big outbreaks.

At our concert, they asked people to wear masks and several refused. We changed our seats. They asked that it be limited to two people per concert and many brought large families. We had multiple teachers and staff there to support the kids.

The only good thing was you could leave after your child was done playing. However, that kind sucked for the kids at the end as no one stayed to watch them.

So…. the vaccine mandates probably weren’t necessary.

That's where we're seeing the big outbreaks because (1) they report aggregated data, and (2) schools are germy petri dishes in the best of times.

Teachers and staff were pressured to get vaccinated. Most did on their own. Its not as simple as vaccinating everyone. Never has, never will be except if we get a better vaccine.

Actually we don't know county numbers or state numbers as they haven't posted them. We just know from posts here, friends, social media and the letters that are listed on the portal.

We also only know about cases that have been tested. If they have covid and didn't test, we wouldn't know.

The Young Artists rehearsal is cancelled. The other rehearsals are happening. Tonight's CONCERT for the strings orchestras is going ahead as planned. This is because it's the Young Artists' conductor that has a cold (non-Covid, apparently) and is not allowed to come in sick to Strathmore.

The bolded poster is desperately trying to prove, for some reason, that Strathmore doesn't do a better job than MCPS. Weird jealousy to have, but to each their own, I guess...

Yes, but no other large employer in MoCo is reporting any specific data.

I agree. Yet, here we are with these ridiculous mandates. And now colleges are mandating boosters.

Also, teachers were forced to get vaccinated. At first, MCPS did not even allow a religious exemption. Someone thankfully filed a lawsuit and they had to backtrack from that.
