As a PP said, so long as there isn't a sudden large allocation to her museum from MCPS, it is a non-issue. I know one of the people who interviewed and they hadn't done any disclosure paperwork in advance.

Well known? Then why didn’t he mention it.

Good try covering up what is very clearly stated in the Board of Education’s ethics policy.

Just let the troll keep spinning, let's not feed it anymore.

+1

+2 so illogical, just ignore them.

Also in schools with more money. They both are thoughtful and smart and I'm sure Scott will recuse himself from decisions involving the KID museum. I was surprised he got it but pleased. I don't think he will yes the board to death, and I think he will actually think about the impact decisions have on schools.

How does founded a musuem = integrity? I see no connection between the two. It is also not sufficient to recuse himself, as his presence on the BOE will undoubtedly influence others decision making regarding funding for his wife's endeavors.

As of June, it seems to have been awarded as part of a $112,233,764 MCPS COVID-19 Relief Funding budget, but didn't list the contract amount?

How the heck does Kid Museum count as COVID funding???

Because attendance fell drastically during COVID so they had virtually no revenue. Is it not completely obvious??

Then why do they get their funding from MCPS? Get their own covid cash!

Is there a criteria for COVID funding? Doesn't it have to be related to COVID in some way? There's no way that Kid Museum would qualify. It's not even part of MCPS and there was no existing program pre-COVID, right?

I am so sick of the board wasting taxpayer money this way. Shouldn't the police or feds do something about this??

The part that bothers me about this is what the money is paying for. If people are not going the COVID $ is funding leases and salaries (his wife and his own income) for a resource that no one is using. Why not just close up for a couple years and reopen later? Why do tax payers need to subsidize his family's income so his wife can effectively maintain a no-show job?

Why did any organization get covid funding? The idea was to keep them solvent through the worst, shut down times so they'd be there on the other end.

Most companies that shut down don't reopen. That way would have been a bloodbath for America, even if there was a lot of fraud and waste involved.

I don't know him, but I hope he doesn't run in 2022 and if he does, I hope he doesn't win.

He is a Whitman parent. They already have everything they want (their addition is almost done, even though WJ is more overcrowded 🤔). BCC also has just finished an addition. And since this position is supposed to represent Whitman, BCC and WJ, and WJ is about to undergo a boundary study in the spring of 2023 to help fill Woodward, it needs to be a WJ parent/community member.

Yes, I am a WJ parent (and one in MS as well), and no I am not running. But I sure hope someone from our community does.

This museum had just opened and barely had any operations before COVID. Nice hyperbole though.

Yes, was this thread started by one of his competitors? It's full of disinformation and now moving to the straight-out lies.

Sorry, I’m going to have to second the people calling you out for spreading disinformation about Scott Joftus. You clearly have an agenda. You’re not going to dig up anything on him, hard as you’re trying to kick up nonexistent dirt. He’s a good, smart man. I believe he will choose the right permanent superintendent and won’t rubber stamp Dr. McKnight because of KID Museum. While I’m sure that he will want someone who believes in experiential learning, I have no doubt that he will do the right thing and won’t allow himself to be browbeaten by the board chair or anyone else. I do think the board chair and others chose him, however, because they assume he has a vested interest in keeping Dr. McKnight on board and can be bullied, but that’s not what he is all about. He will make a thoughtful choice and vote the way he thinks is right. I think they may be in for a surprise!

He has a blatant conflict of interest that he failed to disclose. Your rant fails.

Except you failed to establish that, unsurprisingly.
