Democratic Presidential Bench

+1 Biden was the lowest common denominator candidate and wow did the democratic machine lurch into panicked overdrive when it appeared Bernie was gaining momentum and had a legitimate shot at the nomination. The machine selected Biden and there’s no way he’s going to make it to 2024 so yea, that bench is empty of national level candidates.

Jesus, I cannot with you people. Bernie is not and has never been a Democrat. So it should surprise exactly no one that the Democratic "machine" worked to boost Democratic candidates. And then there is the continuing belief that progressives are this enormous block in politics. They aren't. That is why Bernie lost twice.

Eric Adams is an interesting blueprint for a sane democrat. Bill Maher is probably the closest the liberals have to a smart, informed truth-teller who isn’t afraid of the mob and is completely inoculated from the woke BS.

Stacy Abrams is hardly a diversity hire. What the hell? She saved the democracy and she'd be a diversity hire? Wow.

Eh, fair enough but he did run in the democratic primary. Progressives are a fringe within the party but why are the moderates so scared of them?

Of course Bernie is a Democrat. There are only two parties in this country, there is a continuum of views and positions in each.

Because you all keep insisting on super unpopular things that you think you can force people to want if you scream about it loud enough?

Why did the Squad vote against infrastructure? Is that the sort of thing that they'd do if they wanted to reassure us boring moderates that we can all play on the same team and we should give them more power?

Because we’re interested in winning elections?

Those of you who say Biden, are you kidding? Do you even think he will be alive and with sound mind by the end of his term? He is practically a mummy at this point. Is this going to be a Weekend at Bernies campaign?

We need an Obama-level charisma person. Not sure who that would be at this point. I feel Pete has it, but he's too young, and being gay might work against him.

Given the last president, we are living in a world where a viable candidate does not need to come from government positions. There is something to be said for the point of view that a successful and responsible person with integrity from private enterprise could succeed in the role. As long as that person surrounded themselves with the right advisors and actually had the best interests of the country at heart.

I'm trying to think outside the box in that regard...but I can't come up with anyone.

DC Bureaucracy, Lobbyists, Special Interest, Party National Commitees are never going to allow anyone like that in.

Well that’s a stupid strategy because mainstream dems and independents reject the progressive BS.

We need a populist who will run on economic issues that will help working Americans without all the whole identity politics BS. Happy to vote for someone who is left of center on economics and a sane moderate or agnostic on the culture wars.
